Some of you may remember Dylan Steigers, the Sentinel grad who died six years ago this May from a traumatic brain injury suffered in a spring football scrimmage at Eastern Oregon University. Dylan's dad - Tom Steigers - retired a couple of weeks ago and, instead of kicking back and drinking a few Cold Smokes, is planning to walk from Missoula to LaGrande, OR in honor of Dylan and to raise awareness and money for the Dylan Steigers Concussion Project. Below is the link to the news release. I am proud to call Tom my friend and family and proud to mourn this boy every day of my life.

Please consider supporting this incredible crazy-ass thing he is doing.

Pretty cool. It's amazing how the family, friends and others have continued to raise awareness and money for this issue and cause. What a tragedy and bummer Dylan's death was for the family and friends, but Dylan's legacy will be much bigger and better than for most of us and will save many lives and injuries. I'm sure no one at my high school has had any clue who I was, for many decades. Even my kids have trouble identifying me in the very faded black and white photos that I think remain on some wall in some back room. They did learn long ago to go looking for the oldest and most faded photos, because dad said he was in there somewhere. Of course, at this point, they probably wouldn't recognize me even if the photo hadn't faded. Ha.

Hat's off to Dylan and his family.

A large group of former players from my college team have continuing email discussions about issues relating to football and athletics, and often concussions. A former captain often starts them. It's interesting, and has been a nice way to keep in touch with old friends.

Maybe you should sue........after all it was your choice to participate but the new American way is to always blame others

Dylan Steiger's father is making this ambitious walk to raise money and awareness of concussions and you're in the midst of your own "Glory Days"......as usual...
