…worst call…

I loved going for it. I hate not lining up under center and playing smash mouth football. This team had struggled picking up 4th and 1 for a looooong time.

I agree 100% with this.
A big body like LJ should be able to move the pile forward or a bigger body like Ostmo or Knight would be running forward (not laterally).

I like the call - there may be a time when the Griz need a 4th down play and this was a game that they could practice it. and not lose the game if they didn't get it. If they get a 1st down there and go down and score they could think about using some 2nd/3rd stringers to finish off the game.

Griz D are not going to shutout everybody this season and they still could have held SD off the scoreboard. They are still an outstanding D and can lead us deep into the playoffs

:thumb: Moral victory fans can crow about or situational play calling that may be needed later. Easy choice.

Holy shit fan boards are something else. One hell of a lot of negativity here for a game the GRIZ dominated from the very first play.

Not one member of the GRIZ D would say the GRIZ should have punted there.

+1

...shutouts are like fine diamonds...
...two diamonds are finer than one...
...three diamonds..pretty fcukin shiney...

... 8-) ...

The only bad call there was Johnson keeping it instead of just giving it to Marcus.

On the radio postgame, Hauck said Johnson neglected to set a man in motion, thereby leaving a man unblocked.

(But I would have punted).

Ok, that explains the play did not execute perfectly, but just like the Seahawks should have given Lynch the ball on the goal line in the Super Bowl, the Griz need to give Knight the ball when they need a first down with short yardage. It is almost a given Marcus will get it. Look at the track record. As well, he is your biggest and strongest and most reliable back.

There were 2 other mistakes on the play too.

Probably not the opportune play to make THREE unique mistakes.

Kind of sounds like what tends to happen when you get fancy on 1 yard 4th down plays in the red zone. :) When you have a good back, that ought to be your first choice. . .coming off of knee surgery or not. . . Oh well, always easier to coach from the stands:)
