…griz cat thread…

Hallelujah!

A win ... but, as usual, the Griz made us all sweat.

Box scores says the refs called 50 fouls.

Yeah, when it got down to a four point spread I was getting a little nervous. A great win! Let’s hope we can play like that in the tournament in Boise.

I believe the Griz clinch a first round bye. Best EWU and PSU can finish is 11-9. Griz are 11-7 and own the tie break against EWU and PSU. 2-0 against both.

I’ve never seen so many offensive fouls called in a single game.

1st game I have seen all year from the start. I believe the refs are having a contest to see who can call the most fouls. If I were Travis, I would instruct my players to fall down every time a Bobcat player touched you. Offensive fouls were thru the roof. I would like to see any other game played by any teams that had more offensive fouls then this one is any league. Damn refs ruin the game experience for me. Go Griz good win!

Looks like it. Hadn't caught that about the tie-breakers. Also, as a matter of fact, EWU and PSU play each other in their final game of the season.

Great finish! Small crowd for the Brawl, but it was fairly loud. DJ played like shit, but it was refreshing to see Owens have quality minutes. Belo is a beast, and by far the best big man in the conference.

There were 5500 there according to Twitter. Isn’t that a great crowd?

In the olden days, maybe no. But in today, YES!!! Crowd was loud and into it. Very few Cat fans attended. Effffff Teeeee Ceeeee!!!!

Finally, close to a complete game by the GRIZ. Belo is the kind of player the GRIZ need. Wish he were a GRIZ.

Bannan was terrific. Nice games from Whitney, Beasley, Martin, Cam, and Owens as well. I honestly can't understand why Owens isn't a key player in the rotation. No matter if his offense is on or not, good things happen when he's on the court. He's just enough of an offensive threat. Defenses need to account for him. He opens up the offense for penetration, and is a solid passer too. Defensively he's good for drawing a charge or 2, an occasional steal, key rebounds, and can defend the perimeter, penetrators, and long enough to front post players. His weakness is defending strong backside of posts. Owens is a difference maker, with or without scoring. Not sure, why DeCuire doesn't give him 15+ minutes per game.

Terrific perimeter defense by the GRIZ. That was the deciding factor in this game.

Well done GRIZ and Lady Griz.

This game could be a huge advance in the development of this Griz team. They were challenged by having a nice (not great, but nice) lead go away, almost all the way. But the coaches found a way for them to weather the storm and "finish the game" with a win. If they can transfer that grit to a neutral (or, next year, hostile) road court, they can be great.
