Very interesting….Just got this letter in the mail from UM Athletics. We sit in 225, and this sounds great.

Greetings Season Ticket Holder,
As a season ticket holder on the 200-level eastside of Washington-Grizzly Stadium, Grizzly Athletics is excited to announce some stadium changes and improvements coming to your area. As of the 2023 football season, the 200-level eastside deck of the Maiestic Plaza and all the included seats will become an exclusive area called "The Grizzly Den"
The Grizzly Den will now offer a variety of new amenities including:
• Beer sales on the interior concourse and the ability to take beverages to your seats.
• Conveniently located concession stands on the interior concourse.
• Private restrooms only available to Grizzly Den members.
The Grizzly Den will have an increased season GSA/Den membership of $60 per seat. Season ticket holders will have the first right to renew their seats. If you do not wish to sit in this area please contact the ticket office and they will place you in a different section.
One of the key features of The Grizzly Den is exclusive access for its ticket holders only. To help facilitate this, we will be changing the game-day access procedure. Please check your GrizTix email to stay up-to-date on the details of the new game-day access procedure for The Grizzly Den.
If you have any concerns about this upgrade coming to your area please call 406.243.4051, we would be happy to answer any questions you may have including options for reseating to a different area.
Sincerely,
Kent Haslam
Athletic Director

I love this. I got the letter the other day and am really excited about these new features!

Seems like they would need to add more restrooms for that middle concourse. It gets backed up already, some of that from traffic coming up the stairs, but still need more toilets.

Also must be adding a more permanent food option. A Costco table and nachos won't cut it.

If they do that, then I'm interested. I'm on the waiting list for Canyon Club (outside seating), the primary motivation was to make the wife more comfortable with restrooms and drinks/food.

What would be the cost difference? I think Canyon Club is $1250 all in per seat outside (I think). Wasn't Gold level on 1st level approx $700 per seat (GSA of $420 plus tickets)?

We paid $2,000 last year for 5 seats with seat backs. We’re right on the end of the aisle in section 225 right next to 224 where the maroon bucket seats start. So $400 a ticket. Adding the new stuff bringing the total to $460 per ticket, I’m all in for. I’m intrigued by the “new entrance procedures”… my guess is they’ll have someone at the top of each stairwell and they will give us those lanyard style passes like they do for canyon club members?

I agree that they will likely have access controls at the top or bottom of both of those stairwells. The elevator is already covered by a control point.

If they limit access to that 2nd level, do you think they will have enough bathrooms to cover the 2nd level? Or, do they need more? Limiting the access from the 1st level should eliminate 20%(?) of people using those bathrooms (I've run upstairs before from 1st level to get a smaller line).

Oddly I have rarely had to stand in line for the men’s room. Only time there has ever really been much of a line is for Griz/Cat and even then it’s a 2 minute max wait. I can’t vouch for the women’s room but I think they have the infrastructure to do so if they restrict them as is to the 200 level east side seats. Concessions will definitely need an upgrade. Only two stands this year and a bunch of, as quoted earlier, “Costco standup tables”.

They do have a big screen TV down there but it never showed the Griz game, it was just permanently on ESPN. So I think some upgrades will be necessary, especially if they’re including a beer concession.

EW406,
I’m hearing the entrance will be done via tiny microchip injected into your wrist first time you visit. After that simply swipe your wrist at the reader location and you’re in my friend!
😂
Sorry couldn’t resist! 😁

I have 5 seats in 223 Stadium Club since it opened. Great seats $1050 per seat . I think its been 4-5 years now they let us take drinks to our seats . Great food in the Canyon Club . Curious if they will let Grizzly Den ticket holder have access.

No way. It's already getting crowded in our "club". I've grown to like the Canyon Club. It can be fun and social. Let's of visiting Griz and other semi-celebs coming through. For the first time ever, late in the season, I spent the second half in the Club, talking and drinking, instead of watching the game outside. We grabbed a big bunch of drinks before the end of the 3d q, and were still drinking when the game ended.

The new Griz Den sounds great, and I'm excited for that. UM has been slow in moving more in that direction. UM should allow/sell beer in the NEZ, and help keep that important part of the crowd in the stadium for the first part of the 3d q.

I highly doubt it as well. I was fortunate to go up there for the first time this year, for the Cal Poly game, and it was packed but it was an amazing spot for the game.
