Four not counting Cam.0 are playing in the current NFL. Cam Ward transferred. The league is not the same as it used to be.

Who?Four not counting Cam.
-Joe Flacco/Delaware/CincinnatiWho?
Carson Wentz/NDSU is still with the vikings also. One of 3 QBs-Joe Flacco/Delaware/Cincinnati
-Jimmy Garoppolo/Eastern Illinois/LA Rams last year, not officially retired
-Josh Johnson/San Diego/Cincinnati
-Trey Lance/NDSU/LA Chargers
It would likely increase if he transferred and earned playing time. At Montana, he IS QB1. At an FBS school, he MAY be QB1 or QB2 or QB3.No zero but pretty close to zero chance and it would likely increase by transferring to an FBS program.
This board isn’t what it used to be.The league is not the same as it used to be.
How would he increase his chances as QB2 or 3?It would likely increase if he transferred and earned playing time. At Montana, he IS QB1. At an FBS school, he MAY be QB1 or QB2 or QB3.
He wouldn't. He's only going to increase his chances if he is QB1.How would he increase his chances as QB2 or 3?
Do you think Gronowski moving to Iowa State helped his odds? His numbers were waaay down from his SDSU production, He wasn’t drafted and signed as an UFA with Miami. If Ah Yat wants to play in the NFL, there has only been 1 FCS team player drafted as a qb in the last 4 drafts and he (Cam Miller) has yet to play in an NFL game.
and he has a chance to win a National Championship here.Do you think Gronowski moving to Iowa State helped his odds? His numbers were waaay down from his SDSU production, He wasn’t drafted and signed as an UFA with Miami.
What about Adams going to Oregon? Did that help him? Also undrafted, despite leading the nation in passing efficiency and throwing 26 TD’s vs just 6 INT’s, passing for 2643 yards in his one year at Oregon. Has spent his entire career in the CFL.
There’s a host of other FCS QB’s who moved up and ended up sitting behind someone…
So unless he’s chasing a bag, I’d say AY’s chances are as good or better if he puts up video game numbers here.
He would have a better chance of becoming QB1 by being on an FBS roster than if he wasn't.How would he increase his chances as QB2 or 3?

You honestly think if Montana wins the natty this year that Ah Yat is going to bolt for the FBS? I'm not buying it. Why would a player with his talent after just winning the national championship decide to leave for an FBS school after turning down those schools for the 2026 season to stay at Montana? He would have a chance to run it back to the national championship again in 2027. And his exposure at Montana is greater than it would be than at an FBS school or mid-tier SEC school.I sure hope he finishes his career as a Griz. I think the only way he leaves is if we win the natty this year. After listening to a few of his interviews, he loves being a Griz, but every true competitor has dreams of playing in the FBS and you can kind of sense that with him. And after the amazing year he had last year,.I heard some big time schools were offering him. I'm not going to mention any specific team names, but I heard some SEC teams were interested in him and Eli. To turn that down and come back shows that he is fully invested and wants to try and bring a championship back to the Griz.
The biggest difference is that Lamson already washed out at Syracuse and Stanford and then bailed on Bowling Green before heading to Bozeman where he wouldn’t have to compete for the job.Since MSU won the national championship, that same logic means that Justin Lamson should have transferred out of MSU to an FBS school to "compete at the highest level" for his senior year. I mean, listening to Lamson in interviews, he too sounds just as competitive as Ah Yat, so...
I think that's even more of a case to make for why staying at a top tier FCS program is the better choice when you are starting and leading the team vs washing out at an FBS program. The biggest difference is that Lamson already washed out at Syracuse and Stanford and then bailed on Bowling Green before heading to Bozeman where he wouldn’t have to compete for the job.
