No. 20, the talented forward who just scored the US goal, is a birthright citizen kid. His mom, who was pregnant, was told she couldn't get on the plane home, and no. 20 was born in US.

"The story of how he was born in the U.S. is a famous "twist of fate":

  • The London Connection: Balogun's parents are Nigerian and were living in London at the time.
  • The New York Trip: In the summer of 2001, his parents traveled to New York to visit family.
  • The Flight Denial: When they attempted to board their return flight to London, airline staff refused to let his mother on the plane because her pregnancy was too advanced to fly safely.
  • Born in Brooklyn: Because they were forced to stay in the U.S., Balogun was born in Brooklyn, New York, on July 3, 2001." Gemini.

I'm a Griz fan and the world calls this sport "football". It's the largest sport and sporting event in the world. Griz football doesn't start for months. Why don't you GTF out here. I guess I'm going to have to stop refraining from jumping your dumb posts. My god, get a life and get out of here with crap like this. Or, turn on.your tv.

We need Wemby to make a little American baby for the 2048 Olympics

Great and gritty win. People are saying the win and wins are great, but the way they win is better. I liked hearing the announcers say that Bosnia wouldn’t be able to match the intensity of the US.

The ref was horrible and biased. One post game announcer Alex Lallas said that too. My son thinks Trump should deport him immediately.

I tend to discount Lalas' opinions on principle, having heard him open his mouth before. But a red card seemed harsh under the circumstances.

Glad he was born in the United States instead of Nigeria.

FIFA said no to the appeal already too.
Corrupt as hell. That exact play has happened numerous times this tournament with zero cards. They're both going for the ball. Just like the NFL trying to enforce how defenders fall on a QB when they're making a tackle. What're they supposed to do? Slow down time and watch where the other person's foot is at all times when running full speed and going for a ball?
