What defense will we run this season?

I’d rather be in a 3rd and 5 situation and get off the field by forcing a punt than get a couple sacks to get to a 3rd and 20 situation and then proceed to allow an 85 yard TD to put the game on ice. Thats just me though. That play by the way wasn’t the only time that the defense had opponents in a 3rd and forever only to give up a loooooooong completion to move the chains.
And none of those things had anything to do with the 3-3-5.

Lot of humor in these posts. I want a defense that responds to the offense of our opponent. It can be any of the numbers listed: 4-3-4, 3-3-5, 2-4-5, etc. I want the defense to respond/react to the offense, strike the opponent, and put their asses on the ground.

All of these histerical fans that have been crying about the 3-3-5 are going to be surprised one way or another. With a new DC installing a new scheme it's not going to look much different than the last several years of the 3-3-5 everyone hated. The griz are stacked with great LB's and edge players. If you call it a 3-3-5 or a 4-2-5 you're going to see the best hybrid and nickel players on the field. The defense will be solid but they don't have the depth in the trenches to consistently compete at the top of the FCS.

I liked the 3-3-5. Many who understand D and played the game, liked it. Griz have the horses to compete at top of FCS just like they have in recent years.

I respect your opinion and you most certainly know way more than most. You could be right snd and we shall see. But I do think you have a bit of a blind spot about the depth and importance of the big bodies in the trenches currently.

We competed at the top of FCS for the past several years with what we had. Most return this year and some more came. We lost the good Carroll DE. I have had a bunch of D guys do stuff for me in recent years. Many of them DL. A couple of them big bodies. What I said is not without any info. We shall see.
