Joining the Mountain West would run an $8MM - $9MM annual deficit - can we overcome that?

That’s cuz the Griz already have an exceptionally high number of in state players for being from a small football state.
Well considering we have 30 Montana guys currently and the last time we won a natty, we had close to 50, one might say maybe more Montana is the answer. I wouldn't expect someone who isn't from Montana to understand that though.

I'm from MT and I don't understand it. A lot has changed since we last won a natty.

I wouldn't say that there's a strict correlation between more Montana players on the roster = higher national championship odds. We had over 50 Montana players on the roster in 2007, 2008, and 2009, and those didn't get us championships.

And one could argue there are significantly less high school kids in Montana playing football now when compared to the last time a National Championship trophy was lifted.
