"Sources" say that the NCAA basketball tournaments (M&W) will expand to 76 teams. Have not seen how they will expand the brackets, but it seems like a done deal.

Everybody gets a trophy!

And now it's truly all about the p4. Which is when I will stop watching.

I think I read this year the teams that would have made the dance if it were expanded included the 11th place team in the big ten. Eleventh.
Expanding the tournament wouldn’t be such a bad idea if the NET Rankings weren’t completely skewed in the P4s favor. They have it all set up to benefit themselves and screw over everybody else. If I thought tourney expansion was gonna lead to more mid majors getting in, then I’d be all for it. Unfortunately that won’t be the case though.

All I know is CBS will broadcast the NCAA Div 1 BB Championship game...good old antennae open air days! Streamers likely crying around the corner!

The expanded tournament still won't matter/help with automatic bids, the BSC is still a one bid league due to strength of schedule, with a new president and possible a new AD is it time to seriously look at leaving the BSC.
Can you go one thread without just ripping the AD? Some of us actually want to talk about this new expanded tournament and not have to drag the AD into it like every other thread.

The expanded tournament will be good for TV viewership and $$, do you think realistically the BSC will get an automatic bid into the expanded tournament.

Uhh yes because every conference gets an auto bid. That's not changing. And now if you're one of the bottom 12 auto bids in the tourney, you play in the opening round and if you win, then you get your conference monetary units.

Not an auto bid, wrong choice of words, yes every conference gets an auto bid, that would be great to get conference units by playing in the opening round, I meant an bid if you don't win your conference, since there going to 76 teams.

For the "lesser" conferences, I'd say not much changes, despite the added spots. Remember, they dropped the provision that season champions that lost in the tournament would get an invite to the NIT. Perhaps the non-P4 teams might pick up one or two more at-large bids, but I wouldn't hold my breath. As many have observed, the selections will mostly go deeper in the big conference standings.

I clicked a "like" on this post because I strongly advocate Montana "stepping up," or at least exploring conference alignments beyond the current Big Sky. I have, however, long opposed publicly criticizing (in any manner) any coach or administrator at UM. Thus, my click was a bit hasty.

Two years ago, FOURTEEN SEC teams made the tournament field. FOURTEEN! There's only 16 teams in the entire freaking league!

Money, money, money, money, money, money, money!!!!! They used to use it to investigate Jerry Tarkanian and Reggie Bush. What are they gonna do with all that money now? Gonna be a lot manicures, pedicures, and Armani suits.
