Totally get that Coach Gore & team have more important tasks at hand, but as a dad of a ‘28 recruit, I can confirm that instagram, tik tok, X et al have become critical in recruiting. Players talk to a coach and first thing they do is get all over their socials & vice versa. Griz soccer used to be elite at using SM to promote Missoula, UM, and the soccer style, players & personality of the team.

Again, to those of you not carpooling several 16/17 yo ECNL players to practice every night, this may seem ridiculous

I was told that there used to be an "Instagram" and "Social Media" person that got the players, coaches and all involved, and then did the posting. Hope they go back to posting on their Griz Soccer accounts.

Yes, good post by Stu. Should be on the main Griz Soccer accounts including Instagram and X - asap with the Portal opening in a week and most players going in the portal are doing their research now.
There's a good history of successful transfers who have thrived and really loved their experience at Griz, let's keep sharing that story and let those alumni sell the program too. Would love the Griz to include videos of us beating power 4 teams like Oklahoma, or going toe-to-toe with teams like Ohio State in front of 2,000 people! Most of these players in the portal have little knowledge of us or that you can come here, success and keep playing. (Baylor forward was here last summer though, but assume she's a long shot - athough maybe Bass has some connections to the Colorado players in the portal?)

Looks like 5-in-5 may happen in emergency vote in May. The NCAA is tired of getting sued over things like medical redshirts and losing all these lawsuits. The change will happen, only question is how they deal with roster limits and grandfathering. Without a change to roster limits, it'll cause chaos in women's college soccer - recommend following William and Mary assistant coach Marsha Lycan on X not just for her take on this change, but her posts in general related to college soccer.

The next meeting/vote is on May 22, if passed would be take effect in June. According to WinterSportsLaw, numerous committees have already weighed in on the concept and a sub-committee is expected to put forth a formal proposal that D1 schools can comment on.

Pretty tough schedule next year. Idk if we’ll win any of those road non-conference games.

Strong schedule, but I’m a little more optimistic than Griz til I Die.
Looking at the non-conference schedule and the rosters, Montana should have a solid run at home against Bucknell and Wyoming, then a decent road test at Air Force, followed by strong opportunities against Denver and Gonzaga. Washington and Seattle are probably outside the Montana's current play bubble, but those will be valuable games, and “any given Sunday” can always apply.
Overall, it looks like a strong pre-conference schedule and should give us an early read on where Montana may be headed. The tough part is that two of the strongest opponents, Seattle and Washington, come in the first three games.
Over at @iamyouthsoccer Montana is listed with seven confirmed current 2027s. Is that the recent three plus the prior four from last summer, or is there some outdated information there? Do we know exactly who Montana has confirmed from the 2027 group at this point?

Thanks. If list is correct, and if all hold, that becomes a factor for the Transfer Portal. Montana is at 22 now with two seniors. That would put the roster at 27 next year, assuming no other movement: 22 minus 2, plus 7. Portal additions probably need to be seniors or REAL impact players, unless the staff is expecting Portal departures the other way.
The NCAA five-year eligibility vote and any grandfathering could change the math and create a few extra roster spots, maybe. Either way, the May portal window should be interesting.

Bingo. There are currently 5 2027s verbally committed, the 3 Gore/J just signed, the two from Montreal Canada are the GK & OB/winger, the CB from Canada decomitted when Chris left. So as of now Griz can only add 3 portal players. Would cut loose the Canada players to have more flexibility.
The May portal so far has a high number of P4 forwards and CBs as well a good number of P4 2026 who graduated early in December.
If Griz can only add 3, do they try to add speed and 2-3 forwards.
