DL question

I know the d line has been discussed a LOT but I have a question that I haven't really seen an answer to.

To explain, I was looking through the roster trying to familiarize myself with the new guys a bit, and was noticing that almost every defensive lineman weighs around 250, with the heaviest guys seeming to be around 265ish, maybe a bit more. I know that's too light for the style of defense they're going to be running, and I *also* know much has been discussed about getting heavier guys.

Having said all that, without going into portal guys, what can be done with the current roster in terms of development and putting on weight? Is it possible to put on enough weight in the next few months that some of them could actually make some strides toward playing a role this year? Or are they all too light and it takes too long to pack on the pounds without just getting fat? I'm asking because I just don't know What realistic expectations look like in this area. I also know that someone had mentioned that the weight training program was going to be changing from how it was administered under BH. So I'm wondering how that plays into all of this as well.

Think DBM's point is still valid, but thanks for the accuracy...this time.
Yeah I guess I wasn't specific enough, but I assumed everyone would understand what I meant.

So here's my EXACT question - The VAST MAJORITY are underweight. What can REALISTICALLY
be done with them to get them bulked up? Or is the portal the only option??

Hanks 285. Bailey 280. Have been updated
since 2025?
I'm not sure what your second sentence means, although those two guys have often been mentioned as probable starters I think so I wasn't really talking about them anyway. There's also the fact that those two guys have been rumored to be injured and at least one of them may not play this fall. At least I think I've read that. Which makes my question all the more valid. Who else is there and who can be developed?

I'd like to see mason play more of that tackle spot... I missed the spring game, but practices I attended, and seeing some spring game photos, the dude looks bulked up and close to a DT playing weight.
He's only listed at 250 on the roster, unless that is out of date.

Hes listed as that same weight on the 2025 (last season) roster as well, I dont think they update returners' measurables until fall camp. But my guess is hes added 10-15, and could easily add another 10. Wouldn't hurt my feelings to see him at 275 in fall camp.

Okay that's some good info. Thanks.

Do you have any inside info on the current state of the strength and conditioning program? How realistic is it that some of these guys could add 10 or 15 lb over the summer? Or maybe more?

We might be seeing more 3-3-5/hybrid fronts instead of a true 4-2-5 to fit the personnel. Think hybrid front and LB driven pressure defense. Eric Sanders from what I have seen prefers multiple fronts anyway.
I was impressed that BK said that almost as soon as he hired Sanders, Sanders had a board going with all of his guys listed and what their strengths were. And he was planning to work with their strengths rather than fit them into his defensive mold. I hope it really does work out that way.

Blake Horgan couldn't have weighed more than 255 and was a beast. Im positive he's an exception to the rule but Mason has always given me the feeling he could be that guy.

Oops. Have weights been updated?
