Valley boys on top! Two flathead kids helped break the school record in the 4x1 today.
It's all about a lot more than that.Dominating the BSC and having the upper hand against the cats is all about recruiting the state of Montana.
Crazy what can happen when you put in a little effort.
Don't agree at all-- we didn't wind up with 8 Montana kids out of 20 in our '26 class , including 3 star Evan Pyron of Hellgate and Wesley Ehret from right under MSDUI's nose in Belgrade, and Class A, First Team All-State WR and DB and state-sprint champion speedster William Snell 6-4, 190 from Central right here in Billings with Justin Green and the rest of our old staff putting in little to no effort recruiting, sitting on their butts, that's just total BS : ( !!!
While I am very happy with commitments from Pelc, Sirmon, King and Kasberg, Coach Kennedys success thus far doesn't diminish Coach Green, Pease, Phenice and Hauck's past successfil recruiting efforts, including within Montana--we don't need to throw our old staff and the kids they recruited under the bus, even if doing so is unintentional, to celebrate the success of Coach K and our new staff !!! Pyron, Ehret, Snell and our other kids, including our other kids from Montana, didn't recruit themselves, afterall : ) !!!
Well be honest about how we got the 2 of the 3 standouts you listed as examples. Look at Evan’s family and the successful UM career his mom had and connection to UM. Also, look at what Wesley has said about his dad and you’ll understand why he didn’t want anything to do with Bozeman. We can also be honest that there was some recruiting failures that bit us in the ass the last couple years. Including legacy kids that started and had an impact for the cats. There was some change in attitude for the last cycle and I think the ‘26 class started to show some adjustment in recruiting strategy that was lacking the previous couple years.Don't agree at all-- we didn't wind up with 8 Montana kids out of 20 in our '26 class , including 3 star Evan Pyron of Hellgate and Wesley Ehret from right under MSDUI's nose in Belgrade, and Class A, First Team All-State WR and DB and state-sprint champion speedster William Snell 6-4, 190 from Central right here in Billings with Justin Green and the rest of our old staff putting in little to no effort recruiting, sitting on their butts, that's just total BS : ( !!!

See my questions and comments in bold above.[This, above, also worked in the other direction over the years.] We can also be honest that there was some recruiting failures that bit us in the ass the last couple years. Including legacy kids that started and had an impact for the cats. [Who were they?] There was some change in attitude for the last cycle and I think the ‘26 class started to show some adjustment in recruiting strategy that was lacking the previous couple years. [What was the change in attitude and adjustment in strategy?]
Justin was a huge piece of our program and will be missed and really hope to see him back again in the future. All those guys and the guys still on staff recruit hard. It’s a young man’s game though and you need those guys in their 20’s and 30’s who can put in their time and energy to get the best kids. The age of the staff has had an effect on that this time around. Look at our success in the early 2000’s and see why young assistants like Gregorak Dom, etc who were young and getting paid peanuts to recruit were beating down doors to get guys here. You have to look at the turn around at MSU a decade ago and see why a guy like Armstrong helped turn that program around through his in state recruiting.
As you note there’s plenty of credit that should be given to the staff the last couple years for putting together a team that went 13-2 last year and was a few plays away in November from hosting the semifinal and potentially having a different outcome to the season and a team that reached the championship in 23. You don’t have that kind of success without recruiting good athletes. Also, when you have truly generational talent at some of the most important positions on the field you have to recognize the work put in years ago by the staff you mentioned. The failures and successes aren’t mutually exclusive and that’s why all these staffs evaluate all the pieces of their program year in and year out. Giving praise for the good years needs to equal criticism of the bad years. [I would say only valid and known criticism should be given, and that is rare around here.]
As far as BK, give the man his props for closing the deal on these kids. There was groundwork already laid. He could have just as easily lost them. It will only be a small part of what he gets judged by come contract time.
