MBBALL Hicks into the portal

Bummer. I really liked his game. Maybe we should've tried to start him sooner in the year than we did.
This is very much a part of the year-to-year free agency model that we are seeing a lot of now. Build your brand and try to parlay it into an increased role/payout elsewhere. Don't really know what his motivation is, but this is really what the portal is...gun for hire.

We got out of him at the end of the season probably the best version of who Hicks was, he struggled early on for the same reason that it was difficult for him to get minutes at UNLV. He's not a point guard, he's not a shooting guard, but somewhere in between. He's a decent full court defender, occasionally loses focus in half court sets. If he can put it all together his senior year somewhere, someone is going to get a nice addition to their roster. Hope he gets his bag and see's success.

Bummer. He’s a great athlete and seems like a good kid. Academic all district. Played well down the stretch. I always felt he should have gotten more minutes.

Agree with most people about Hicks, but maybe there were just too many guards and more coming and decided to go elsewhere for more playing time.

A big reason for my dwindling interest in NCAA hoops. The Dance will still draw people in for now, but the money available is not sustainable to play with the majors and their media money. And if the players aren't invested in the program why should I be. Watching guys like Krslo become all conference from shaky starts was a real pleasure. All gone. It's depressing to see what is going down IMHO. As a 60 + year once rabid fan of all levels of intercollegiate competition. I guess the lower levels will still survive, they never had much money to begin with.

Me too.

Arizona has the best balance, in my opinion. They are starting 3 freshman and 3 vets. One of the vets started at AZ the other transferred from Alabama.
