I dont think hes better than Money, maybe Tyler Thompson, he and aguino would be very close in my opinion. Everybody else, I'd take Lincoln rogers right now.
I actually dont know if travis does want Montana kids, or if he cares. Rollie Worster was literally committed here, but trav got mad about him wanting to play his senior season of high school football, so Rollie went a different direction. Lincoln rogers situation isnt much prettier.

You believe that Lincoln at his skillset and size as of today (3-17) would've been the #2 or #3 option on March 11th against Idaho in Boise?
I think maybe you should review Thompson’s high school tape. He was not projected as being just the shooter he is now, in fact, he played above the rim. At times he was rated a 4* prospect.
Thompson was a great 3&D guy this year. He’s switchable, he’s long. I personally think he’s got all-conference and all-defense upside. Fill out the frame a little more to absorb contact, and that rim pressure he showed playing high school ball in California can come to fruition. He’s already got the shot, now he just needs to leverage the aggressive closeouts to generate paint touches.

Yep, and there current coach has recruited exactly 1 Idaho kid out of high school, and he went to prep school in Utah. You are giving him credit for more Idaho high school recruiting, but he plucked most out of the portal after playing at other schools.
Re Montana/Missoula recruiting:. UM coaches aren't EVER going to win the PR battle no matter how many Missoula players on the roster. That expectation killed the Lady Griz and the program is still recovering. Bobby made some choice decisions with athletes in MIssoula and it cost him PR and players for a few years. Even Don Read and Robin Selvig had to fight these battles.
It's not Travis's job to save roster spots for Missoula kids. He thought well enough to offer Rogers early, as he had with Worster. Things changed. Was it Travis's fault? I really don't know. I know that Rogers wanted to play and the Minnesota school was a pathway for him to get that PT and get his school (or most of it) paid for. Not a bad deal at all.
I've been around long enough to have watched local kids star for the Griz in hoops, but its been A LONG, LONG TIME since we have had one. So I get the sentiment. I think we can agree that Rogers represents the most recent itteration of that quest that probably goes back close to twenty years (if not more). Jack McGillis(who transferred in)/Jordan Hasquet might be the last before that? Maybe Sam Riddle.
When Travis lined out his roster for next year in terms his recruiting preferences, it is because of what he knew already to be an area of concern. He has two CG's (Haggins/Lake) that are likely going to have every opportunity to play early because of their ballhandling/defensive skill, and the other (Carter) is a pure scorer who could provide coverage for Money (should he not return). Maybe there were other calculations, but perimeter help sure seemed to be a problem and he found three highly capable guys in the HS market.
I just don't think it is a zero sum game. A lot of things can be true about the recruitment of Lincoln and how it played out here. Would I have like to seen him on the roster? Absolutely. But best of luck to Lincoln in Minnesota and I hope he tears it up.

Speaking for myself, I'm not suggesting they save roster spots or do the Scheweyen thing and recruit a bunch of local high schoolers and their friends. It is concerning that of the worthy Montana high schoolers (Missoula or not), UM has missed on every single one. Of the one or two that are worthy every 2 or 3 years they've missed or it appears they just haven't put in the effort.
Re: Worster, yes, this was on the coaching staff. If my memory serves me correctly, they got weird (my translation/paraphrasing) when Worster wanted to play football his junior/senior year and continue going to football camps to explore how that would shake out, in addition to basketball camps. Nuanez had like a 20 min piece on his radio show a long time back when Rollie ended up de-committing to UM and committing to Utah State (I think).
In a state like Montana damaging those relationships with the player and by association his high school head coach and team (on-purpose or not) makes it harder to recruit the in-state kids that are worthy of a scholarship.

I like Tyler Thompson. We absolutely always need to bring in additional talent. That does not mean we shouldn't recruit Montana talent though.
They've got 5 instate kids. I dont care how they got their, but they em.

I am sure TD would be willing to get transfers from Montana...if there really were any.
It kind of goes back to the point many were making, that Montana doesn't produce many D1 players.
Rollie's teammate, Abe Johnson, was an almost immediate impact player for Army coming out of highschool. Rollie contributed significantly as a true frosh at Utah state.

Johnson averaged 5.8 mins and 1.5 points per game as a freshman. Finished his career averaging 4 points a game.
It’s easy to compare their performance in the BS compared to high school performance against lesser competition. It’s an apples to oranges comparison.
You're kidding! I thought it was the same level of comp. Definitely didnt consider! Indeed, I'd still take Lincoln 10 out of 10 times over those i mentioned.

Abe shows no stats in 2020-2021, 1.6 points no starts in 20 games in 2021-2022, 3.4 points and 3 starts in 32 games in 2022-2023, 6.5 points and 20 starts in his senior year, 2023-2024.
He was not an almost immediate impact player for Army out of high school. But go ahead and make stuff up.
Made more of a contribution than you most likely ever did in college, go advocate for not recruiting local talent to someone else.
