LadyGriz LG/Harris Contract

I like Nate Harris. Don’t know the man but he seems like a good guy. I feel for him and this years team, BUT being a good guy doesn’t always translate to success. I was wondering what kind of a contract he has with the university? My guess is maybe a single year? Is it tied to any type of performance guarantee? I’d be surprised if it’s any longer.
Do he stay or does he go? At this point I feel he’s not the right person for the lady Griz program. Watching the ladies play has become very painful. I’m sure many of the players feel the same way. Where do we go from here? I think the season is pretty much history so why not terminate his contract early and begin the search for a new coach?
I’d be interested to hear what the fan base feels. Fire away.

with little experience and I think no HC or recruiting experience Kent gave him a 3 year contract in August for 135/year so your stuck with him for another two years unless someone ponies up money to buy him out

Wouldn’t surprise me if most players transfer out once season is over and the 2026s decommit.

I think it’s 3 years from what I remember. I was one of the few last year who said we couldn’t disregard the results of the regular season last year. Instead everyone was pounding the drum during the tournament for him to get the job because we managed to get hot. Now we’re gonna regret it in the long run.

He was head coach for a school forgot the name. it was a division 2 team but had a 18 - 10 record first year as head coach. Covid screwed up his second season.

Based on this season's results, I can certainly understand the knee jerk reaction to fire Nate Harris until I checked out Tricia Binford's first year with the Cats.

The Cats were 3-23 overall and 2-12 in conference in her first year. They didn't win the conference until 10 years after her first year.

Surely the Griz can give Nate at least three years to see if he's improving. I know he has a couple of stars in the making in the 2026 recruiting class.

2026 recruit Hayden Kaut earned WIAA Athlete of the Week - "Senior Hayden Kaut delivered a milestone week for Napavine, recording a 30-point game against Rainier on Jan. 27 while shooting a perfect 4-for-4 from three-point range and adding 7 rebounds, a block, and 2 steals — a performance that pushed her past the 1,800-career-point mark. She followed with 9 points and 16 rebounds in a league-clinching win over Onalaska and capped Senior Night with 24 points, 8 rebounds, a block, and 2 steals against Toledo to secure a perfect league season."

I don’t necessarily disagree with your assessment. However there is something lacking in the fundamentals of basketball. You don’t foul with under 2 seconds on the shot clock. Happened 2 times today. Twice in a row towards the end of today’s game they were called for a back court violation. The 5 out offense negates any rebounding advantage they could have.
In my final analysis I just am not comfortable with Nate’s game management. I do wish him luck going forward and maybe he can turn it around. I keep going back to that 50 point loss in Bozeman. I wish he’d show a little more emotion, like Selvig.

Haslam is a fucking moron for giving Harris a 3 year contract based on a conference tourney run. The temporary, but unsustainable bump interim coaches often get is well documented.

This team looks absolutely lost out there most nights.

I can’t imagine a new president is going to look at Haslam’s track record from this spring alone (soccer debacle, WBB looking incompetent, and Bobby’s buyout controversy) with much sympathy.

I was among the group of GrizWBB fans that aggressively promoted coaches Harris and Wooley's hire. (fire away, I guess...) I did so because I was impressed with the coaches' masterful turnaround of the team during the second half of last season's coaching disaster. I've gone to every home game this year... and admit that Montana's loss to Weber State today was disheartening. What was obvious to me was the huge improvement of WSU post #7 (Emma-Nnop with 28 points), who dominated the paint on both ends. She is the type of player that Montana has been without. I don't know if that's the full story, because this team plays with a lack of confidence (my opinion). Dunno. This season's been a puzzle, but I'm sticking with them. Go GrizWBB.

I was right there with you. I understand giving the coach some time but personally I don't like they way he has they lady Griz playing offensively, and he was hired cause he inspired these team to make a tourney run after the aftermath......

I don't see much inspired play right now win or lose I don't see it lien I have seen In years past

Hoping it can change quick next year

Just like football we need to get the Montana lady recruits to be coming here
