My theory is the Mac didn't really want them but Sac just kept throwing money at them until they finally said yes.$15 million to get into the MAC is WILD.
NDSU got a steal of a deal in comparison.
Seems like a lot of long road tripsMy theory is the Mac didn't really want them but Sac just kept throwing money at them until they finally said yes.
Four per year, with cities that are much uglier, but easier to get to than the BSC.Seems like a lot of long road trips
To be fair, we are pretty mid right now. When I think Mid-America, I think Sacramento.
Objectively, NSDU had way more leverage.$15 million to get into the MAC is WILD.
NDSU got a steal of a deal in comparison.
Well they are a JV team so, wish granted?
To be fair the Central Valley does feel like the Midwest without freezing temperatures, humidity and snow. Farms as far as the eye can see in both though. To be fair, we are pretty mid right now.
Somewhat? And, joining the MAC gives whom respect? The MAC is somewhat a joke. Kids back here that want to play DIV1 FB have several options. They are U of M. MSU CMU, WMU, and EMU. MSU and U of M are always chasing unicorns in Florida and Texas so unless you're a 4-5 star recruit in Michigan you'll end up at Central, Eastern or Western Michigan. There are no FCS teams within 200 miles of those DI Michigan schools. So beyond those schools it drops down to Ferris, Grand Valley, Northern, & Tech etc very good Div II programs.
The Mac schools will play their Body Bag games early on and collect the big checks. When they get to league play, they'll play a Wed, or Thurs, night game again to collect the TV revenue. Watch those games sometime, the cameras focus on the Bands because there aren't any fans in the stands. Maybe as many as a good HS game. I doubt many Sac St fans will fly east on Wed. night to watch the Hornets take on Ball St. The MAC is playing those type games to support their programs. There aren't any MAC games with 15-20K fans. I've taken several Michigan fans to Wa GRiz and they are blown away by the atmosphere. SAC St will have to have concerts after every game to get butts in the seats
The days of teams belonging in regional conferences are long gone.. Palo Alto and Berkley are a long way from the Atlantic Coast, and the rest of those teams from that area..Somewhat? And, joining the MAC gives whom respect?
Sacramento is 75 miles or so from the Pacific Ocean. That Mid-American feel, y'know.
The football revenue for a Big 10 school is 5x-20x the football revenue for a MAC school. The extra money offsets the long road trips. The days of teams belonging in regional conferences are long gone.. Palo Alto and Berkley are a long way from the Atlantic Coast, and the rest of those teams from that area..
You think folks from Los Angeles have alot in common with fans in Piscataway New Jersey?..you pissed about that too?
