Hauck Illinois Interview

It’s almost surreal to see Bobby in this environment as we know how much he hates social media stuff.

From what I can gather in this interview, Bobby announced retirement last Wednesday and Illinois coach started reaching out to him Friday (when he was in the middle of nowhere fishing with Tim). So I think the timing worked out the way it worked out. I don’t think he knew for certain he was heading to Illinois until after his announcement when you listen to this:

Terrific interview. Hauck good, but the Ill coach was great too. I liked that guy.

It is a great interview and i'm an illini fan now!
My college coach left after my junior year to go to Illinois. I stopped at Illinois's fall camp on my way back to college my senior year, to see my coach friends. My coach didn't do so well there, but had the 3d most wins in the Big Ten when he was there, after Ohio State and Michigan. A distant third. One of my teammates, who was from Illinois, turned down a scholarship there to go to Dartmouth. He was All-East at Dartmouth. Great player and great guy.

Thanks for posting this. I bought a place up Rock Creek nearly 25 years ago and I get it. That’s where I go to escape the world, too.

Good luck, Bobby. Thanks for your time at UM.

Too bad he didn't give that same energy on social media to Montana.
Well at UM he didn’t HAVE to. Now he has a boss. Lol.

Regardless I doubt his social media presence changes a whole lot. They’re putting him out there a little bit right now because he’s a new hire. Dust will settle and he’ll be allowed to just buckle down and work without being in front of a camera.

Not sure if surreal is the word i would use. Ive seen some of his video tweets and he seems very uncomfortable doing them😂.

He'll be all over social media after the first 5 or 6 70 yard plus plays against his D.

he doesn't sound like his usual arrogant public self. it's maybe like he's surprised at his own decision. he's always sounded more 'prepared' than in the video.
