Now Things Get Complicated

I don't think the issue is whom BK knows, it is how many guys want to take a job that may only last 10 months.
The majority of people he knows are likely to be closer to retirement which would make them more open to something short term, especially if they are currently out of coaching for the 2026 season.

He's not an interim coach. He's the full-time head coach. UM can either choose to renew his contract, or not. There won't be an open search/application/interview that would include him.
Yeah, he's the "full-time" head coach in the same way Bobby Hauck "retired".

BK absolutely is the interim.

Every AD has a business continuity plan for situations like this. Coaches also have business continuity plans for when a player gets injured.

So you would've extended
13-2, number 3 in the nation plus the attendance numbers, etc…yes I would have extended. Only caveat is if major donors start to defect. If so, they should step up and pay the buyout and move on. Look, we are not Ohio State or Michigan where you can win a national championship and still have an asterisk by it because you lost the last regular season game to your biggest rival. We don’t have the financial backing to be that arrogant. Losing to the cats is deflating to fans but instead of effectively firing a number 3 in the nation coach, stop whining and pony up the money to even the playing field. We are not that far off. Coaching changes always result in a reset. Hopefully this one won’t be a cluster.

You're better than this.
What do you mean EG?

I wasn’t talking shit. Just seems like this view is maybe more prevalent than I gave credit considering who I heard it from initially. I see this poster saying these things so was just kinda curious?

I don’t know the guy nor have any opinion of him in any way. I couldn’t pick him out of a lineup. Just find it interesting that those opposed to him seem to be more vocal than I recall the last few years.

Consider what else comes from those posters (and those cat fans).

Kent may be many things. Being a pos would rank roughly 11,7820,812,008,115,651,776,154,054,655th on that list.

I keep coming back to 2002 and wondering how different things might’ve looked if Montana had actually hired Brian Kelly back then. He was a legit finalist, and if he’d landed the job instead of Hauck, does the entire trajectory of Griz football change? Do we get a more explosive offense earlier? Different recruiting pipelines? Maybe even a different run of playoff results in the mid‑2000s?

Not saying it would’ve been better or worse—just wild to think about how one December decision over twenty years ago might’ve altered everything that came after.

I won't say it would have been better, but, I would bet that we would have at least one more trophy in the case!
