This isn't all that surprising, we knew Bobby wasn't going to stay out of coaching football. But like others mentioned, Bobby did say that he didn't want to be a head coach anymore. I think it's a bit more surprising the fact that he landed a job at a big10 school like Illinois right off the bat.

A bit surprising it is in the FBS instead of say the NFL for someone who claimed to not like the transient nature of college football.

Did he ever actually use the term "retiring" last week? Because if that's how he personally framed it then this is really disingenuous because if he really wanted to coach but was prepared to retire then he obviously could have stayed on as an assistant in Missoula.

How is that wrong? If he left in January to go be a DC everyone would have understood. Instead he did this fake ass retirement announcement to shoehorn his guy into place. Recruits a bunch of guys under false pretenses. Then he bolts less than a week later. He's straight up LYING to us. This is a scumbag move. If he takes a player from our team his legacy is completely tarnished.
