BREAKING - Bobby Hauck expected to resign as UM head football coach Wednesday

To keep the staff together and not have a mass exodus of coaches and players
Well that’s great. When we go 7-5 next year and lose to the cats at least we can say “at least we didn’t lose a bunch more players to the portal”
And we don’t know that we won’t lose more players to the portal as it was just announced this morning. But if im Gillman or KAY right now I'm looking at the prospect of playing for a guy that’s NEVER been more than a position coach and I'm doing some thinking.

Reddit FCS made an interesting comment that due to the awkward timing, they hope everything is ok with Bobby and his family. I think they were being sincere.

That would explain quite a bit.
This was my first thought with the sudden announcement....I hope there isn't any health or other personal issues that prompted this decision.

You're not one of those guys Rob....

Well, if there is an upside to this shitshow, its that anyone who was bitching about Bobby Hauck won't have to change the 'Bobby' part. The bitchin' starts anew. My fear is this house of cards will collapse right before our eyes. Mass exodus of players and coaches? Whats the next shoe to fall? I hope the new 'Bobby' isn't a PC/DEI hire. Position coach to Head Coach. Sounds like Delaney 2.0.

Well shit I did not see that coming. Does anybody know why?
Bobby I think is ready to be done. This is all speculation but in my opinion, he's passing the torch now, while a small rebuild is occuring. Allowing the new "predecessor" to begin building the roster his way, rather than trying to build it "Bobby's way" and then having to start all over. The timing was just right for him to hand it over. Bobby lost and graduated a lot of kids, so in that sense, it makes sense. I am assuming he waited so long because of the transfer portal and wanting kids to stay rather than have a mass exodus from him leaving. BUT it's all hearsay. He could also have chosen to resign due to the president stepping away as well and new leadership coming in allowing a new "regime" to begin.

Bobby was done after this year anyways. Is he going to be president of the university? OR is he looking for a more managerial role with the program? OR is he just ready to be retired?

Bobby Kennedy may eventually grow into the job. He may surround himself with the right staff. He may recruit well and win Big Sky titles.

But none of that is why this hire feels uninspiring.

It feels uninspiring because Montana had leverage, prestige, and opportunity—and chose the lowest‑risk option instead of the highest‑ceiling one.

For a program that measures itself in national championships, that’s a surprisingly small swing.

Unless they absolutely love that coach. Seems that is why Brooks Davis came back. How do we know they are looking at this as a negative?

Griz Football Head Coach is not a job one would 'grow into.' I want Haslam to explain the hire and the reasons behind it. Maybe Haslam is 'retiring', too.

This is a completely different time then when Delaney was hired. Pflu was fired much later in the year and someone was needed to just hold the wheel. I liked Delaney and appreciate what he did for the University and Griz Football. But Kennedy is no Delaney 2.0. He is a much more accomplished position coach. Will that translate into a great head coach.... time will tell. And I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that he will succeed.
