Wortham?

So is he eligible to stay another year because of the JuCo years?
Does he want to still be a university student or does he have other plans?
Not much has been said about him so am just wondering.

He's doing that fcs showcase this weekend for the nfl, perhaps how he performs in that determines how hard he would want to fight for another year of eligibility 🤷🏼‍♂️ hard to say he would stay if he does have one more year I'm sure he can make some serious money.

Unfortunately I think his eligibility is all used up regardless of JUCO. He would have to individually sue on the JUCO eligibility to have a chance is my understanding. So there’s potential I guess. But I don’t believe the JUCO eligibility issue is a blanket automatic for all

I'm sure a lot of people would like to see him back, but imo that'd be bad for college football

Idk what he's doing but you guys should go check out his interview on the Deep Ball Podcast. Gives us some insight what a player like Wortham had to go through during his career at E. Washington and why he chose to leave to come to Montana. We definitely can thank Coach Brent Pease for bringing him to Montana.

He’s going to be 24 this season and he is a father. It gets to a point where you either need to pursue the NFL or do something besides football. College football was never intended to have players for 6+ seasons.
Another year with NIL could hold him one more season and buy more time for a shot at the NFL.

How would that be bad?
For every player granted another year of eligibility, that eliminates a high school player from playing college football, especially with the 105 player roster. Great for the existing player getting another year but not so much for the high school player not getting the opportunity to play college football. I’m in favor of the 5 years to play 5 and then you’re done. No redshirt of any kind.

I accept your opinion, my opinion is I'm in favor of another year of Wortham with Montana if it's possible.

There were ruffly 80,000-90,000 college football players last year form D1 to NAIA. I think that one kid can find a roster some where if they're good enough to play.

He doesn’t have any eligibility left. He quite literally came to MT BECAUSE he was granted a final year of eligibility. He talks about this in his podcast with Sammy and Keenan. Glad we had him for that year.
I wish we could’ve given him like a paper cut or something so he could apply for another year 😂

The point was this mindset is bad for college football. In this specific circumstance it would be nice for the Griz to have Wortham for another year but guys playing for longer than 5 years is bad for college football in general.
