Ramos into the portal

I don't think that will happen until we get a new coach. We just need to tweak our 3-3-5 package we run against run oriented teams with several heavier, athletic, DL to support the NT.
We just all need to get used to being pretty good but not good enough to beat the cats and not good enough to win a national championship. Just accept it.

bummer but grass is always greener..I thought he was always on the verge especially after that eastern game. good luck to him.

The 3-3-5 creates chaos against mediocre teams. But as soon as we get up against a dominant o-line there’s no shot without an NFL caliber DT.

We had one in Bobby’s time running it in Gubner. And we made the Chipper.

Unless you have a Gubner every year it will fail us late in the season against great olines.

In today’s era. Any Gubner we do come across is leaving in the portal because dominant disruptive DTs in college football are nearly impossible to find.

The 3-3-5 is a failing concept to win championships.

Makes me wonder if we landed Hanks. I wish Ramos all the best, but I thought he really struggled this year. TBH, I thought our best DT this year was Semaulo, and I thought Bailey came on strong towards the end. If we did indeed land Hanks to go along with Bailey and Semaulo, then that's a group I can feel good about!

Agreed with all these takes. And I do believe there are some freshman that the staff is very high on on both sides of the trenches. Hope they make the leap

Per my earlier reading on bobcat nation, they currently have 6 d-tackles on their roster for 2026. I went back to double check this number, but as has happened so often at bn lately, the site is down. And of course they are high on Hanks.

Schwartz too. He was a wrecking ball much of the time (maybe more of a DE tho)...

Losing Ramos does nothing to hinder our ability to beat the cats
My comment was quoting and responding to discussion about scrapping the 3-3-5 and how that was not going to happen unless we get a different coach. Which is why I quoted a post that quoted an earlier post. It's not the first time nor certainly the last when a discussion takes a bit of a detour. If everybody had to stay completely on target with what the original post was, most threads would only be a page or two. And egriz would die. Lol.

All that to say that I don't disagree with what you just said. I don't think losing him is that big of a deal, but I do think hanging on to the 3-3-5 when it's obviously not working against teams like the cats is a big deal. Maybe now would be a good time to rethink it and change the plan, but I seriously doubt that will happen. Hence my comment to just get used to the status quo. That took far more explaining than I feel like it should have. 🤷‍♀️
