The eternal little brother

I shouldn’t be surprised, but I am just baffled by these people. Maybe there should be some sort of large scale psychological study on the brains of cat fans. Maybe that 16 year streak did even more long term damage than we realized.
I can’t imagine getting to the mountain top, you finally won a national championship after all these years, and your first instinct is to chant “Eat Shit Grizzlies”

This my friends, is why they will always be our little brother.

as cringe as it is, they are big brother now until proven otherwise.

But ya, its... cringy as all hell. They think it bothers griz fans but its really just pathetic and makes them look bad. They even chant it in their school fight song. Imagine mentioning the cats name every time we hear our school song, or every time we hear some song from the 80s, or every time we play any game, attend a wedding, even go to concerts. It's pathetic and makes them look like losers. But that being said - they own us as of late. and our bookstore.

We're still in Tennesee. Have been in Nashville for 4 days. Went to the game last night in Bobcat gear to cheer for a Montana team. Bobcat fans showed an amazing lack of class. "Eat shit Grizzlies go Cats go" was the common cheer during the game. Some changed Grizzlies to Redbirds. Almost every bar had fans singing the same thing and yelling FTG. They were an embarrassment for the whole state.

The chant is embarrassing, but so is calling them "little brother" in 2026 when they're about to destroy us for another decade
I remember thinking in January 2016 that we were about to destroy MSU for another decade. MSU decided to question the status quo and move on from Rob Ash which changed the trajectory of this series. The same thing can happen with the Griz quickly changing the trajectory.

Give me a break. Seriously who gives a shit?

Except on the field.
...and virtually every other way recently. That attitude needs to die out because it's a dead end.

Maybe Bobcat fans remember this more clearly, but Choate said something once about how "return to dominance" was a big mistake. To paraphrase him, you have to focus on building something new, as opposed to clinging to the past. Something the Griz old guard are reluctant to do. That always stuck with me. It's probably the same kind of thing that has doomed Nebraska.

Of course that's undermined by his disastrous tenure in Nevada, but that's a whole 'nother story.

Our son in Nashville has commented that the locals are really tired of it and wonder if everyone in MT is this sick.

Certainly, your boy Stitt changed the trajectory.

I just took the easy hanging fruit reply.

I think it highlights the reality of what our program needs to do. They built their program to beat the Griz, then to beat the xDSUs. Granted they haven’t beaten the xDSUs yet… but they built something that clearly can win a championship by first focusing on beating us. SDSU did that too with NSDU. It’s high time we actually focused on getting after these folks in all facets of the university.

The have beaten SDSU, albeit lost more than won. Vigen has never beaten NDSU.
