Trying to become a more historical fan!

Hoops 😭 you’re about the only person on here that I have that energy with because you treated me a new member with that same level of respect. If you had simply not been a dick to me off the bat, I would not have been a dick to you off the bat. Law of equivalent exchange or whitchmacallot.
You got what you deserved. You showed that you are a little punk without knowledge and that’s what I think of you. You didn’t deserve any respect and were saying stupid things from the get/go. I am more of an earn/your-respect guy. You jumped me, so jumped back at you. It turned out that you were weaker than what I thought initially.

Ironic as many here have no respect for you, despite how you'll tell us how respected you are here. No self-awareness.

I don’t care. Those types don’t know me and I certainly don’t care about them or respect them. That includes you. I have good self-awareness and that’s one of the reasons I have been successful in life. It’s funny that while some have figured my posting style, and how I am often making fun of some people especially some Cats and those showing they are clueless about football and Griz football, and I know how to get a rise, many people like you still don’t get it. I’m glad, because getting a rise out of the likes of you is one of the things I like to do. This post of yours makes me chuckle because it shows that you don’t get it. And you took the time to make the post.

It seems to me that he has to tell everyone how respected he is, because he knows it isn’t true and is trying to convince himself and others. This is common in grandiose narcissism.
You are another clueless one. I am able to keep making fun of you and you don’t even know it. Keep reading everything I write and taking everything I say serious.

Holy fucking super villain monologue hoops, You can see someone trying to become a better fan and still find a way to turn it into a war. What do you want to argue about now, all that it ends in is you gloating about your successes. I don’t care how much money you have, what your kids have done, who you know or what you have done. Take away all of that and you’re still a prick.

I don't like how you have posted and don't like you and don't like how you have been on the board generally or with me. You burned your bridge. Toughen up. No one asked you to like anyone or me, certainly not me. And, I know you are jealous. Talk about a prick. You defined it from day 1.

What would i have to be jealous of you about. I have an enjoyable life with all of the things i love to do going well the same as you, so you claim. Do you think everyone that pushes against you being a dick and is willing to argue their point is a bad person. There was no bridge to burn with you because you haven’t offered anything meaningful from the start.

Hey just trying to learn a bit more about the history of our team and would love if everybody that’s willing could comment a specific player and a great griz memory of them it would be awesome :)
well, you came to the right place to ask - egriz has some relics from ancient times who could could offer you plenty of information. alas, some of them will feel the need to bring up political issues when comparing now to the past, but you just gotta learn to ignore it.

I don't care if people argue with me or agree or disagree. I support the Griz and understand football and prefer the discussion to be based on reality and facts. And, if someone jumps at me, I often jump them back. If you aren't jealous, why do you keep bringing up those things. Do you really not know that I'm intentionally jabbing at you, and others. You have no money and no girlfriend, but you have an enjoyable life? How long with that last?

Brady Gustafson was a 6’7 qb who won the AA state championship in basketball at Billings West. He threw for 353 yards and 4 touchdowns in his first Cat Griz game. The Griz walloped the Cats, scoring 54 points. That happened to be Rob Ash’s last game coaching MSU.

Enjoy the Cats' national title tonight. You and Bobby can smoke a cigar together.

I'm a life long fan in my mid 40's, grew up here watching the Griz. While not the most far back history of the team, some fun things to check into:

  • Don Read era, 1986 - 1995. Don came here from Portland State, never had a losing season, never lost to MSU, and that era produced some of the most prolific Griz QBs ever (Pease was here when he joined, then Grady Bennett, Brad Lebo, Dave Dickenson, & Brian Ah Yat - BAY played mostly after Read retired). The offense was 5-wide spread, pass heavy offense that was electric. During this time Wa Griz is built which was probably the single biggest game changer for this program ever.
  • Joe Glenn's 3 years here, he lost his very first game and we all thought the sky was falling, that 2000 team would go on to make it all the way to the title game. Then the 2001 team with arguably the best Montana defense ever, loses to Hawaii and gets stuck on the island due to 9/11, the ensuing Idaho game is re-booked at the end of the season. Griz go on to win every game after including the natty and carry forward division 1's longest winning streak well into 2002 until they lose on a BS no call PI at EWU.
  • The pure in-conference dominance of Hauck 1.0 from 2006 - 2009. Through that stretch they lost 1 conference game. The 2008 and 2009 post season runs were some of the greatest games and moments, capping off with the 2009 semi final vs App State. That game, if you go look at both teams rosters, was FULL of kids that would go on to the pros. There's some pretty epic recap videos on twitter from those games
  • I think it's worth gaining knowledge as well on the NCAA issues and press fallout from what occurred in 2010/2011 and moving forward. That really re-shaped a lot of what happened here at Montana. A book is written about Missoula's handling of two sexual assault cases and the NCAA opens an investigation into Montana - to which Montana settles on but agrees to cut scholarships, vacate wins and a conference title from 2011, and limit practice time. It gets Robin Pflugrad and Jim O'Day fired and introduces Kent Haslam as AD and first Mick Delaney for 3 years and then Bob Stitt before the return of Hauck 2.0 - from 2012 forward the trajectory of Montana's dominance in the conference, over the cats, and in the playoffs is dramatically different - save 2023 and 2021 somewhat.

Thanks, Brint, for a pretty good compilation. I would like to think the years ahead are brighter.

larry donovan was an important figure in the success of the griz, despite his teams being pretty mediocre. his biggest contribution was doing the heavy lifting to get wa-griz built. he was fired before it was finished, and read got to enjoy the fruits of his labor.

Why are you such an insufferable prick?
