The opposite has been happening where MSU has been winning the games and most of the Montana recruiting battles.

Correct, and it's been cyclical. Cats are in that upswing right now but nothing is permanent. I just think it's easier to recruit kids that can develop into 4-3 linebackers than 3-4 nose tackles.

What does 4 front mean and how does that not include the 4-2-5? For alignments they play on the field, Alabama and Ohio State both use the 4-2-5 the most and Alabama uses the 3-3-5 as their second most common alignment.

It sounds like you are arguing that Ohio State should play the 3-3-5 and Alabama should make that their primary alignment. The 3-3-5 and 4-2-5 are really the only alignments that people are using against modern college offenses. No one is playing grandpa’s defense anymore because it gets torched against the spread.

The Portal/NIL is changing things. It has more changes every year. The Cats model is probably going to get overwhelmed by the Portal/NIL. The Cat system may be deemed to be quaint in a few years. Don't speak too soon. The Cat system is grounded in the past. There is no way that 2 or so good MT players can keep up with the Portal in the coming years. NO WAY. Cats better get their champ game this year, because their model will be proven to be outdated.

I’ve enjoyed watching you grasp for straws over the last two weeks. If the Griz have better coaches, better players, a better portal strategy, and a superior recruiting scheme, why can’t they beat the Cats?

I’ll ignore the insults. Just answer for your fellow Griz fans, most of whom apparently despise you. Please note - being a fluffer for Bobby doesn’t make you a representative of the entire fan base. It just makes you a fluffer.

Of all the things Mario Cristobal doesn’t get about Xs and Os, this is the thing he does know. He sometimes relies too much on this, especially when he decides trying to prove his o-line is better means more than calling the right play on a 4th down. But he’s got some people this year, and perhaps an OC he isn’t actively undermining. Which is to say the guy may have learned something.

Evaluate a coach by how he’s grown, plus the recruiting, et al.

Bad bounces, bad luck, and dirty plays by Cats hurting our top players doesn't help. The Cats have good advantages and good players too. The first game could have gone either way. The second game turned around when the 88 yard 3d down pass occurred, and then the Griz fell apart for several minutes. The game was alot closer than the score. All Griz want to beat the Cats, but losing to the no. 2, or 1, team in the nation and then ending up no. 3, is not the end of the world.

Losing lots of good players to the Portal concerns me way more than losing to the Cats.

Hopefully, the Cats will get beat soon.

Miami had a great rushing game and confidence that they could do exactly what they wanted with it.
The psychological side of this great game is often overlooked.

I talked to a friend of mine from Bozeman over the holydays and he said that the Scats were confident they could dominate the line of scrimmage against us.

Ohio State may very well fire their head coach and staff. Ohio State doesn't settle for mediocrity and, yes, a 13-2 season with losing to Michigan and not winning a national championship is a mediocre season in Ohio State's eyes. Some programs have higher expectations than Montana's.
