Losing in his backyard

Getting the best Montana high school football players is more than just about football. It's what built the fan base across Montana, and it's crucial to the university. One of Bobby's goals should be to win in state recruiting.

No titles for Cats. Can’t beat the Dakota and MV schools. Cats employ dirty plays to beat Griz.
This isn't even good trolling, you're so far out in left field. Lol. We'll talk about the lack of even big sky titles for big game Bobby later, but we'll check in on Tuesday and see how this ages.

If the cats boat race us next year I hope the keep bobby forever crowd wakes up and demands change. If Griz beat the cats then Bobby is a good enough coach to keep around. Its that simple.
So dumb...what if the Griz lose to the cats and win the chipper?

Still simple?

Ok. Great. I was 10 years younger 10 years ago. You can have that "ownership." Cats lead 13-11 since the streak ended if you count the vacated game. The Cats own the Griz in Bobby's second tenure.
Sure, enjoy it while it lasts.

Nothing lasts forever, and as illustrated by your revisionist history, things can change very quickly in college football.

Revisionist? I went back 25 years. I didn't make the records up, they are what they are. And those 2 teams in Bozeman last week were not very close, so while I agree it won't last forever it's not stopping any time soon.

Brother, you don't even have to read up that far to get to a post where you admit to lying about the last 20 years.

Again, kudos to the last 10. We've been owned.

But Griz fans were saying the same thing you are now back in 2015. Things can change very quickly.

Cats have done better in the last few years. Had UM won the recent games, that would not be the case. Don't know about next year. Don't know who will be on team and they haven't had a practice to watch. Yes, winning a national championship or two would have been nice in first stint. Close, but didn't happen. A bunch of semi-final games was a huge positive. Showed how good the program was. Not winning a championship after getting there doesn't mean much to me, just as losing to the Cats, while painful, doesn't mean that much to me. They are just games, and they need to be looked at with all other games in the seasons. Very good seasons.

The "goals" are outdated and mean little to mean. Winning games and going deep in the playoffs are how I measure the team and its success. I'm not worried about losing support at all. The Griz have been very good in most years, and the seasons have been very exciting. There was huge excitement this year, and there will be huge excitement next year.

I truly don't get how some fans seem to think losing a game or two is the end of the world, or evidence the sky is falling, or the program is in trouble or has many structural problems. I don't view it that way at all.

The coaches will figure out what they believe should be done for the future and try to do that. They probably do that every year. The coaches will try to recruit more top players. Those may or may not include MT high school kids. I've changed my view on that. The Portal is now much more important than recruiting MT or high school kids. Obviously, a mix is necessary.

It looks like Portal departures are going to keep getting worse for most teams, maybe all teams. Bob Beers told me when we were talking at Amanda Pflugrad's wedding last summer, that it's just like the NFL. You assess your needs and holes, and go fill them. His view was "what's the big deal".

Building up a bigger NIL pot is going to be key. Not sure how UM can do that and make it sustainable. The good news is that most of the Griz players want to play for the Griz. If the money gap can be narrowed, they seem to be sticking around. Perhaps that will change. Also, in recent years, the Griz have been getting big interest from good players who want to finish their career with a chance to go to the national champ game. The players seem to buy into the program and coaches quickly, and want to listen to the coaches and help make the team better and more successful. That is big.
Appreciate the thoughtful response. I tend to agree with you most of the time on here. I think we forge different paths on recruiting and portal. I think we see that differently in terms of how it should work.

Especially on the road, all places we have historically or recently struggled + OSU and an improving Davis team.
We haven’t lost at Davis since they joined the Big Sky, and we haven’t been to OSU since the 90s. We finally slayed the demons of the red rug, but I guess we did lose to NAU the last time we were there.

We literally lost to Davis AT HOME last year 30-14, and we have 1 win on the Red Turf since it was installed in 2010 and 5 losses.

Davis is very well coached and will not beat themselves with penalties and turnovers. I would not look past them regardless of what the historical results are.

Oh I’m not. I’m just pointing out that Ut was saying these are places we’ve struggled to win at.

I think he was saying all the games besides OSU and Davis on the road are places we have struggled to win at recently, and while we have not struggled to win at OSU and Davis recently those will likely be high quality teams.

Pretty much this, breaking it down:

EWU: 1-6 record @ EWU since the Red Turf has been installed

NAU: Lost 28-14 with our NC team on our last visit

Bozeman: Seem to lose by around 30pts when we play there lately

Davis: Under Plough has become the #3 team in the Big Sky, they kicked our ass at Home last year.

OSU: FBS team, we could have a chance but we don't know how they're going to look with a new Coaching staff.
