Losing in his backyard

We played for championship 2 years ago. Some of you are obsessed with the cats. I’m not. Maybe this will be Cats’ year
do you not think the cats have a better football program than ours right now? What is your prediction for Griz record next year? I think people see this as a premier program that should’ve probably had won some national championships during the Bobby’s first stint. What are your views on the goals that have not consistently been attained? Are you not worried about losing support if the cats continue to beat us?

You're the one who keeps wanting to make bets on the upcoming cats game against Illinois State..

you're the one who keeps saying the cats can't beat any of the mvfc or dakota teams which has been proven false by their wins over SDSU and USD..

Looks like you're the one whose a little to obsessed with the cats..😂😂

Getting absolutely whipped recruiting in state is the saddest part….and does not bode well for the future.
But we beat the worst NDSU and SDSU teams in a generation one time! Certainly that should make up for getting whipped recruiting in state and on the football field against MSU annually.

Nothing will change, my dads friends have been complaining about OL and DL for over 20 years of Bobby ball. They have hated it for decades and when you are honest with yourself they are right. I like Coach as a person but he doesn't have what it takes to get a team over the hump. Didn't happen when I was there and I don't see it in the future.

And none of the Cats will bet me. Nope, I am the one who doesn’t think losing to Cats is the end of the world. I am an Ill St fan. And like the Dakota and MV schools. I like to tease Cat fans. And you certainly have your panties in a wad.

It’s wins and losses. Both of those teams beat the Cats.

Pretty sure doesn’t cut it with me. Okay, Cat fan.
Do you have the list of All-Americans from each school since 2021? Cats had 6 last year compared to the Griz having 1. That is a lot of ground the Griz are going to have to make up in only 4 years to have had more since Vigen arrived. 2023 was also the only time the Griz had a better record which makes it less likely. Voters are typically biased towards players from teams with better records for accolades like All-American and All-Conference.

Wins, deep playoff runs, all/americans. The Griz have had alot. As for rings, where are the cat rings?
Your way of thinking has zero rings.

cats might get their ring this year and it only took Vigen 3 years to do it. Vigen also proved its not hard to beat a team twice in a season. Another sword of yours you have to fall on. Most fans would take 2 years of 5-7 then a NC. It shows growth.

We are mired in stagnation but wait another 20 years I am sure that will change

This is Vigen’s 5th season but that is still far less than Hauck.

Yep and I gave my coach way to much credit. ANY coach in the USA at any level of football would have made adjustments coming into the 2nd game but not Hauck. He just doesn't get it, so I was wrong. He fell flat on his face again on the big stage and took me with.

I can admit when I am wrong. That makes one of us.

Who cares? I don't follow the cats program like others do, the point was its gonna take Vigen less time to get a ring than Hauck and its not even close. Vigen has had his team in the NC game 2 times since hes been there. Even with the watered down FCS and the remaining weak teams light years behind NDSU, thats pretty good.

What adjustments would you have made between the 1st and 2nd game?

Now that's a spicy hot take, even for you. It's been 20 years since the Griz "owned" the Cats. You're right they've got more recent titles but it's not like they're stacking them. Been 25 years. And the Cats are 8-2 in the last 10, hauck has a losing record vs them, and the Cats have won more in Missoula since the streak ended than vice versa. Your definition of "own" is... something. Especially when the Cats just stomped the life out of them on the way to hanging a banner. But you're right, that UND win in September is the thing that's more relevant.
Ten years ago in 2015 it was 8-2 Griz in the previous 10.

Cats have done better in the last few years. Had UM won the recent games, that would not be the case. Don't know about next year. Don't know who will be on team and they haven't had a practice to watch. Yes, winning a national championship or two would have been nice in first stint. Close, but didn't happen. A bunch of semi-final games was a huge positive. Showed how good the program was. Not winning a championship after getting there doesn't mean much to me, just as losing to the Cats, while painful, doesn't mean that much to me. They are just games, and they need to be looked at with all other games in the seasons. Very good seasons.

The "goals" are outdated and mean little to mean. Winning games and going deep in the playoffs are how I measure the team and its success. I'm not worried about losing support at all. The Griz have been very good in most years, and the seasons have been very exciting. There was huge excitement this year, and there will be huge excitement next year.

I truly don't get how some fans seem to think losing a game or two is the end of the world, or evidence the sky is falling, or the program is in trouble or has many structural problems. I don't view it that way at all.

The coaches will figure out what they believe should be done for the future and try to do that. They probably do that every year. The coaches will try to recruit more top players. Those may or may not include MT high school kids. I've changed my view on that. The Portal is now much more important than recruiting MT or high school kids. Obviously, a mix is necessary.

It looks like Portal departures are going to keep getting worse for most teams, maybe all teams. Bob Beers told me when we were talking at Amanda Pflugrad's wedding last summer, that it's just like the NFL. You assess your needs and holes, and go fill them. His view was "what's the big deal".

Building up a bigger NIL pot is going to be key. Not sure how UM can do that and make it sustainable. The good news is that most of the Griz players want to play for the Griz. If the money gap can be narrowed, they seem to be sticking around. Perhaps that will change. Also, in recent years, the Griz have been getting big interest from good players who want to finish their career with a chance to go to the national champ game. The players seem to buy into the program and coaches quickly, and want to listen to the coaches and help make the team better and more successful. That is big.
