Shafer hit vs Harper hit

My man, that "literally" is his knee. Not his thigh. The hit is a good 9 inches below the thigh.

That said, I don't think it was malicious. The defensive player is just a bit of a pussy for the way he tackles.
The dirty tackler hit him in the knee. And mostly from the side, or 2/3 side. That’s why his knee was torn up. A hit in the thigh doesn’t cause if that knee damage. You can see the thigh pad above the tackler. I saw it right away and starting yelling dirty tackle.

Thanks, Everett.

Nah, the hit is right on the thigh pad. I mean I'm sure you guys would have preferred our backup safety giving up 70 pounds to a monster TE in the open field would have tried to tackle him high and got trucked or drug into the endzone, but instead he made a good thigh-level tackle and brought him down. Great play on Petre's part. It only ended in injury because Shafer's full body weight was on that leg just as the tackle landed and the knee buckled. Unfortunate, but one of those things that happens in football, particularly on turf fields.

Just like medically there is no possibility that he wasn’t. There isn’t a world where you get hit that hard on the head are laid out on the ground for that long and you weren’t concussed

Once the official announced the play was under review he popped up and jogged off the field without assistance with a smile on his face knowing he just beat out several punters and soccer players for The Academy’s “best portrayal of a critical, near-death injury in a live sports competition” category.
Not even close to the truth- watch video again.

Can you tell us how a DB tackle? I can’t wait to hear.
You don't tackle a running receiver, especially a tall one, just catching the ball, by tackling him in the knee. You go above the knee a bit, or go lower. You also don't use a hip drop, like the tackler did on Davis. Another dirty play, and that one is unnecessary roughness.

The hit was right on the knee, largely on the side, and below the thigh pad. A high in the thigh pad wouldn't have caused a knee injury. No one suggested tackling 84 high. Just not on the knee, and from that angle. A chance of 12-15 inches wouldn't have caused the injury. Could you anything less about football. My god, you are out to lunch. I hope Petre gets the same treatment in the future. He's a very dirty player.

Could I anything less about football?? English MFer, do you speak it?

You're blind and/or FOS. The contact is right to the thigh pad. Plainly evident in the video and the still. And that absolutely can cause ACL/MCL injuries to a planted leg, as anyone with an ounce of common sense knows. But I'm sure now you'll explain to everyone how playing some DB 40 years ago makes you a leading orthopedic expert. Enjoy your circle jerk.

F you. Your players are dirty.
Haha, ok hulahoops. Our players weren’t the ones celebrating over a possibly injured player giving the “night, night” gestures. Classy and please save yourself the embarrassment of trying to deny it. Also, remember Cat/griz a few years ago when Julius Davis was injured on a hip drop tackle by the griz defender? I’m sure you were here educating everyone on how to tackle and the dirty nature of that play. Same thing happened to Mellott in the 2021 title game. Again, I’m sure you were calling the NDSU players dirty then as well.

Here’s a question for you from your 1920’s playing days. How many 6-5, 270 pound TEs did you have to tackle in the open field? All the players were 5-6 and a buck 20 back then. You know nothing. And the fact that you are allowed to just spew non-sense, insults and name calling on this board is insane. I remember back in the day when people could actually discuss football somewhat civilly here. Times change I guess.

I don’t expect a response because you obviously have me blocked. Too much logic for you to handle I suppose.

Blind or purposely ignorant?

Weak assed tackle from a pussy defender is what it was. Not malicious though, so he's got that goin for him.

So we’re actively hoping young men playing football get injured on egriz now? What a pathetic POS you are hulahoops and, by proxy, the same goes to the moderators who allow this BS.

Right.....that's the definition of a defenseless player.

Now show me the rule that prohibits making low contact with a defenseless player who isn't the QB.
The way this hit happened, it is not specifically mentioned as illegal like targeting. It is up to the officials to determine whether the hit qualifies as unnecessary roughness or not. In my opinion it could have been ruled a dirty hit and unnecessary roughness due to how Shafer was still catching the ball and not looking forward towards the defender.

Are there examples of when a play similar to this was flagged at any time in the past? I sure can't think of any.

This. I mean Shafer took Brody Grebe out at the knees with a low block in last year's brawl. Luckily it wasn't serious and he was able to come back in. I don't recall any Cat fans wishing injury on Shafer. There's something seriously wrong with this dude.

I only hope your dirty players get injured. Karma.

Colter Petre is a great kid. Extremely hard competitor and comes from a great family. This is a despicable post from a despicable guy. To hope injury on anyone shows exactly the kind of person that you are.
