Shafer hit vs Harper hit

troll-puns-new.jpg
I'm just asking for someone to cite the rule to back up what they are saying. That's being a troll?

Just like medically there is no possibility that he wasn’t. There isn’t a world where you get hit that hard on the head are laid out on the ground for that long and you weren’t concussed.
Once the official announced the play was under review he popped up and jogged off the field without assistance with a smile on his face knowing he just beat out several punters and soccer players for The Academy’s “best portrayal of a critical, near-death injury in a live sports competition” category.

You’re an angry little fella. Here’s one article.

Not angry. I read your source, which I agree with: “eyes through the thighs, wrap and squeeze, and then “drive for 5,” meaning carry the ball carrier back five yards if necessary while engaged.”

If you look at the “tackle” , in question, the DB attacked the knee, not the thigh area. There was no attempt to wrap the legs…

Thanks for providing the source. Once again, I’m not angry. I think it’s a good argument to have. I only have the best intentions to maybe prevent these injuries going forward.

Touché!

Dude there’s no way you think that

Don’t answer the question! Got it. I’ve played and coached, can spell, cite sources, and admit it when I’m wrong.

all good. I agree with you that it’s worth a discussion.

I think when you are taught that way you instinctively aim for that area or the body. Shafer’s hit wasn’t dirty legally, but in my view it is a dirty play because receiver has no ability to brace or maneuver away from a catastrophic injury. I know this isn’t a play that is celebrated.

I just think it was a bang-bang play from that safety depth a split second difference between hitting someone in the thigh and knee. Maybe he was going low but i really doubt it was “dirty” in sense of intention.

I hate that he got hurt, nobody wants to see that. But a DB tackling low on a much bigger tight end right after the catch is exactly how they’re coached. Injury doesn’t automatically make it a dirty play.

Not fair to say that Harper’s tackle was “unlucky” but another players was “ill intent”. Football is a fast game and I very much doubt either player wanted to intentionally mame another.
No. It is not coached to tackle at the knees in that situation. I played college db. Assume you didn’t. Dirty play that caused huge injury.

"Clear concussion" but was cleared to play in this game. You sure you want to lay that on the MSU medical staff?
Yes. Who else could you possibly blame that on? If you were a trainer and you let that kid back in the game shame on you. Most of them are most likely from montana and had a personal bias in this game which influenced them to allow their best player back into the game after being clearly knocked out. If this was boxing and you gave that kid the 10 count the fight would’ve been called.

My question was rhetorical.....

He literally hit him right in the thigh pad, the pad they wear for hits like this because they are so common.

My man, that "literally" is his knee. Not his thigh. The hit is a good 9 inches below the thigh.

That said, I don't think it was malicious. The defensive player is just a bit of a pussy for the way he tackles.

I feel like PR is the egriz version of Aunt Bethany from Christmas Vacation.
I am about the only person posting who knows how db’s should tackle and what’s dirty. You clowns are clueless in what a dirty play is. Hope Ill St clobbers Cats.
