Just do some research. It’s what is taught now. How old are you? The days of putting your face mask in the numbers are long gone. You’re full of shit! Try again, and cite a source that backs up your “virtual” claim!

You are just as out to lunch as the refs. It is against the rules to tackle by making contact with the knee when the receiver is in the process of catching the ball and not looking forward, Shafer should have been considered defenseless in this situation. It’s considered dirty to tackle by the rules?
I agree.....he's a hell of a player. Was a great blocker in the run game and a weapon in the pass game.GFY. Shafer just announced yesterday he had his knee repaired particularly the 2 ligaments and meniscus. He was a hell of a player for us, and was particularly hard on your defense via clean plays. Im
Going low when a receiver is turned around catching the ball, is considered a hit on a defenseless player and is against the rules. It is not that the hit was low that makes it against the rules. It is that it was low when Shafer was defenseless.I agree.....he's a hell of a player. Was a great blocker in the run game and a weapon in the pass game.
But it wasn't a dirty play. He's 6-5, 270 lbs, Our safety is maybe 200lbs soaking wet. He has to tackle low, that the only way he can make a play. It was just unfortunate how it worked out. Just like the Harper play....he wasn't trying to head hunt, that's just how the play worked out.
Going low isn't against the rules.....
Don’t answer the question! Got it. I’ve played and coached, can spell, cite sources, and admit it when I’m wrong.Just do some research. It’s what is taught now. How old are you? The days of putting your face mask in the numbers are long gone.
Show me the rule.....Going low when a receiver is turned around catching the ball, is considered a hit on a defenseless player and is against the rules. It is not that the hit was low that makes it against the rules. It is that it was low when Shafer was defenseless.
You’re an angry little fella. Here’s one article.Don’t answer the question! Got it. I’ve played and coached, can spell, cite sources, and admit it when I’m wrong.
A hit on a defenseless player is a hit on a defenseless player. Harper happened to hit dowlers helmet, which has been sensationalized like crazy, so its a penalty and the kid is kicked out of the game. We lost a player in both plays. Both significant players.I agree.....he's a hell of a player. Was a great blocker in the run game and a weapon in the pass game.

Going low isn't against the rules.....thus didn't get flagged.
What?!?!?! All players are defenseless when they are in the process of catching a ball......It sounds to me like you're saying you can't make contact with them? If so, my follow up question would be.....have you ever played or watched or read about football?A hit on a defenseless player is a hit on a defenseless player. Thank you o merciful Professor of poetry and trout.Nobody is taught to drive their shoulder into the side of a receiver’s knee! I think the word you want is maim , rather than mame. Maiming can be unintentional or, intentional! So , are you saying the player making that “tackle” didn’t deliberately target his knee?

Right.....that's the definition of a defenseless player.Defenseless player (Rule 2-27-14 (https://www.sdcfoa.org/ncaa-rule-book-and-case-book/rule-2-definitions/college-2-27-14)). When in question, a player is defenseless. Examples of defenseless players include but are not limited to:

The petre kid isn’t very big either, unfortunate situation for schafer but kids today aren’t being tough to meet a te that much bigger than them above the waist.Just do some research. It’s what is taught now. How old are you? The days of putting your face mask in the numbers are long gone.

Again, please cite the rule.
So any contact with a player who is considered defenseless is prohibited? Is that what you're suggesting this rule says?Overview

In college football, the defenseless player rule
protects players vulnerable due to physical position or focus, like receivers catching passes, players in the act of throwing/kicking, or players giving themselves up (sliding).
Who is considered a defenseless player?
- Passers: In the act of throwing or just after releasing the ball, or in a passing posture with focus downfield.
- Receivers: Attempting to catch a pass, completing a catch without time to protect themselves, or in the act of receiving/recovering a kick.
- Kickers/Returners: In the act of kicking or during a kick/return.
- Ball Carriers: Already in an opponent's grasp with progress stopped, or who have given themselves up by sliding feet-first.
- Other: A player on the ground, a player clearly out of the play, or one receiving a blind-side block.

That defines a defenseless player, but the rule specifically limits the foul to specific hits, hits to the head/neck area, and/or hits with the crown of the helmet. It says nothing about hits to the knee as you implied, and even if it did, the hit was to the thigh, not the knee.Defenseless player (Rule 2-27-14 (https://www.sdcfoa.org/ncaa-rule-book-and-case-book/rule-2-definitions/college-2-27-14)). I hate that he got hurt, nobody wants to see that. But a DB tackling low on a much bigger tight end right after the catch is exactly how they’re coached. Injury doesn’t automatically make it a dirty play.
Not fair to say that Harper’s tackle was “unlucky” but another players was “ill intent”. Football is a fast game and I very much doubt either player wanted to intentionally mame another.
I’m sorry but there is a zero percent chance he “sold” that. He is there best player, A lot better chance vigen didn’t let the trainers evaluate or he didn’t let them get a good evaluation. He got knocked tf out, he shouldn’t have played the rest of the game because he was concussed regardless of how well he played. Failure by the MSU training staff.A hit in which he didn’t even get evaluated for concussion or miss a single play….he sold it well.

In other words, are you saying you agree that Harper's hit against taco should have been a penalty even if he led with his shoulder or facemask? That's what it sounds like to me.....
Just like medically there is no possibility that he wasn’t. There isn’t a world where you get hit that hard on the head are laid out on the ground for that long and you weren’t concussed.
