NIL Transparency

I think both schools need to be more open with everyone on how we’re retaining players with NIL. Maybe i’m just not in the know but when a player stays over taking 500k *cough* junior and wyoming *cough* Like what are we offering them.

It’s proprietary and competitive info. You tell the competition what you are paying. You are clueless on NIL too.

I think it isn’t going to happen unless mandated by a higher governing body like the NCAA to require all schools to publish NIL like how all NFL contracts are public information. I think it would be beneficial to everyone overall if it was public information.

If the payments are administered by the university athletic department, which seems to be the case under the NIL structure after the NCAA settlement, the information should be available under a public records request. Government salaries are available and this is probably no different unless I am missing something.

I’m no expert but if it’s allowed I would want to keep NIL and how much $$$ is in the coffer a total secret. This morning I saw NDSU kicker, best in FCS statistically, is in the portal. I’d love to know what a kicker is getting these days.

That’s hard to do. Since the players and their contracts with business aren’t public employees, it’s difficult to really get a handle on what is spent. The only public record stuff would be what the school pays and to whom (if it pays anything).

Yeah i think that was my biggest thing, it’s like damn how much are people making because i’ve seen some reports or posters who claim such insane amounts, that it’s like damn how could a kid turn down something like that.

It’s not nearly as much as say an offensive lineman but it is still pretty good. If he transfers to a competitive power 4 program his NIL will likely be in the mid to high 5 figures. The best possible situation will probably be in the low 6 figures range. High 6 figure and 7 figure NIL deals are very rare for kickers. This is based on the general market for kickers currently, not anything specific to the guy from NDSU.

Some Griz have more loyalty and integrity than the likes of you. And potential to make bigger money in the future. What kind of 21 year old spends as much time as you posting dumb stuff on a football message board. Someone going nowhere in life, I assume.

Someone who’s on winter break in their butt fuck nowhere, montana hometown. What kindve retired Lawyer who has had as much success as you Jack, is spending there time berating 21 year olds on a football message board. The cte from that great career at dartmouth finally catching up? Or do you just miss arguing with people.

When this NIL debacle started I had head the “Rams” (NDSU o-lineman) were getting around $20K each. I have no idea if that was all cash, or included car deals, meal credits at restaurants, clothing, tattoos, jewelry, etc. Also thought this article from 2023 shed some light on the kind of money flowing from NDSU’s financial backers.

I like to support the Griz. It’s my hobby. I learned this from Stanford law school. Retirement provides lots of time for travel, fun and doing whatever one wants.

Oh so we have the same hobbies. Being a college kid on break also provides those exact same things.
