Our DBs are too damn slow!

When defensive players take each other out of the play, it is really common for long TD's to happen.
"The longest pass play from scrimmage that resulted in a touchdown in the 2025 season was an 84-yard pass from Drew Mestemaker of North Texas. No pass reached the 95-yard threshold." "The 95-yard threshold was only achieved once during the 2025 season when Chase Mason of South Dakota State University threw to Goering in the FCS playoffs against Montana."

Track athletes that choose track over football often do because they don't like the physical part of football. You want good lineman find the 6'5 basketball player with good feet or the heavyweight wrestler and the good ones probably are throwers in HS too. Jumpers as LB's? What? Most fast athletes have had a chance to play football at some point in their lives in the U.S. and if they don't choose football it is usually because they don't like hitting people or getting hit. There is "track fast" and football fast and most of these Griz defensive backs were track stars in high school too. Tanner Huff won the 100 and 200 in AA. Brady Beaner ran a 10.66 100m and Brock Beaner ran a 10.74 100m last year which would have been state champ in Class A, B and C in Montana and 2nd in AA. And they are tougher than nails which is why next year when you all realize what we have with these two.
I was more saying i just want more athletic people, they don’t actually have to be track stars i just want some quick footed fast dbs, strong explosive line backers. and big huge lineman, preferably everyone of the athletes we recruit will have been a multi sport athlete in highschool and all state or all conference in that second sport.

Kinda like sayin you'd like a rich, beautiful wife who can cook and puts up with your $hit!

Sounds like you want to recruit more Montana players. Most of those guys are elite multi sport athletes, which most college coaches say is a benefit. These guys might be more raw in football than someone who was only playing football all year round but also probably have better potential.

Hoops you think that bragging about knowing/associating with people with high football IQ's makes you knowledgeable by osmosis. If you really believe that works, you should hang around more thin people and then tell us you are in shape...other than a circle.
Not bragging. But I get my football info from the experts. I don't spew BS like the likes of you. You have no idea whether I'm in shape or what I weigh now. And, I know I'm way smarter than you, and know more about football.

Hoops will tell you speed wasn't a factor in these plays. Then when you repeat the obvious he'll tell you you're stupid and you don't know ball but he does bc he talks to Bobby sometimes and often goes to QB club. A tale as old as time.
Speed wasn't a factor in the 88 yard TD by Cats. Good play by Cats. Bad play by Griz. That's all.

Salopek. Don't know if he got close to the field: "Also a track standout... Finished 4th in the state of Washington in the 200M with a time of 21.90 and finished 10th in the 100M with a 10.75... 2025 Metro League champion in the 100M."

Prince Ford: "Speedy, Ball‑Aware Nickel Corner Emerging as Montana’s Defensive X‑Factor
Prince Ford (SR, CB) has stepped into an expanded role for the 2025 Grizzlies after transferring from Illinois, offering *above‑average straight‑line speed, strong ball skills and special‑teams experience* that make him a matchup weapon in man and zone nickel packages[2][1]. Coaches praise his quickness and instincts — he’s not as large as his brother Justin but is likely faster and more twitchy, which helps him close on targets and contest catches downfield"

Kenzel Lawyer: :40 Low: 4.50 40 Time: 4.59 "

Not bragging? You brag incessantly and even though you have one person out of the thousands of people on this board who thinks you don't lie, not one person is going to come on here and say that you don't brag.
The last time I saw you if you would have been an inch shorter you would have been a circle. Are you denying that you are fat? At your advanced age you should be making healthier choices and taking better care of yourself. I actually feel sorry for you.

doesn’t brag felt the need to tell me all about how his school selected him as one of the best corners in the last 50 years. 😂 then you ask a simple question like what school and then no response. Just i know better than you but i'm not gonna back it up with anything

Something i’ve noticed at least the last 4 years is that we lack speed in our 2nd and third levels. This combined with an undersized defensive line has been a plague. You saw it on that 80 yard tud to dowler and you saw it again with that big run from jones. Our guys look a step behind. I mean of course this is something that is just kindve an issue at the fcs level. But i would love to see us get some real speed, especially as the others schools are starting to get good speed at receiver.
You know, Gillman outruns a lot of 2nd and 3rd level guys too.

It’s usually why they’re running backs and WR’s. They’re the fastest guys on the field.

Just read the whole post, i talk about how this is an issue at the fcs level as whole it just seems like we are step behind in it than the schools that are winning national championships.

You are clueless on Griz db play and db speed. Where did all these new dumb and out to lunch posters come from, i.e. posters like you.

If it's true, it's not bragging. That's what they say in Texas. Everyone of note on the board knows I don't lie, and people like you can't point to one single lie. Not one. Yes, I am denying that I am fat, just on the high side. Since I gained weight due to two surgeries, one with a lasting issue, I have lost a ton of weight. I have been doing over 2 hours of hard cardio everyday, and lifting. You don't even know who I am, and I can't imagine where you would see me.

lmao hoops you’re a clown, idgaf about their 40 times i care about them looking fast on the football field which they constantly haven’t the last 3-4 seasons. Or that their griz player bio says their fast no fucking shit it would say that what’d you think it was gonna say they aren’t.

How much to you want to bet me on the 50-year team? Most everyone on the board knows where I played, except idiots like yourself apparently. I played on a top 15 D1 team too. All-conference. In a couple athletic halls of fame. How about you?
