Hypothetical - Bobby is done when his next contract is up. Samson from tech?

I personally believe that Kyle Samson would at least have to be a Canidate for the job. He has won a good amount at the NAIA level. His family connections run deep in college football especially montana football. Seems to be an excellent recruiter and has found a lot of Montana gems. I’m just curious to see what people’s opinion on this would be?

Absolutely. I would be on board with Kyle. Guy is a recruiting machine and has WAY better connections to the college landscape across the country. He’s a gem and right in our backyard.

Steve Annese at Ferris State. Would love to see him hire Samson at Tech as a coordinator.
He'd be a good hire, won't ever happen and probably very unpopular to many on here but I'd like to get Drew Cronic. Old Mercer HC and now the OC at Navy, love watching their offense. Other good Coaches:

-Cody Hawkins from Idaho State
-Ed Lamb from UNC
-Troy Taylor (old Sac/Stanford Coach)

Chuck Morrell

Will be interesting to see how Oregon state does under their new HC. They have some coordinators that could be strong candidates if they show potential.

Good one here! Quick look it says he makes $600,000 as Alabama LB coach. That is thing with a bunch of these P5 assistants would have to take pay cuts.

I also see him being a guy that would stick around for awhile if it ever did happen. My fear with a lot of other coaches is that they’ll see this as a stepping stone job which good on them they should, but that’s never great for the program and especially player retention in the nil era.

Samson won’t see the light of day as a possible HC at the Griz (WTF) some of you people don’t have a clue!!! First and foremost Hauck is not retiring or going anywhere unless it is under his own choice ~ Candidates that they should have there eye on but our stupid as AD doesn’t have a clue as well ~ For the sake of conversation ~ At least reach out to and gage there interest!!

Northwestern OC Zach Lujan, who also coaches the quarterbacks, entering his second season in 2025 after a highly successful stint at South Dakota State, where he won back-to-back FCS National Championships and was named FCS Coordinator of the Year in 2023

* Matt Miller (WSU OC) if he would be interested

* Ferris St HC for sure

Yeah a G5 assistant is more realistic, however with Morrells history in the state and P4 pedigree it would be crazy to not at least call to request an interview.

It would be funny if we hired Shawn Howe. He is a young up and coming coordinator with experience in the Big Sky. old Pac 12, SEC and ACC.

Shawn Howe's increasingly responsible role at MSU speaks to his performance as a Bobcat defensive coach. He joined Brent Vigen’s original staff as defensive line coach in 2021, adding defensive run game coordinator and co-defensive coordinator duties over the next two years. In 2025, he becomes the program’s defensive coordinator. Under his tutelage Brody Grebe (three times), Chase Benson and Daniel Hardy each earned All-America honors. Grebe, in fact, finished as a three-time All-America. Before MSU, Howe coached at USC (2011-12, 2019-20), Coastal Carolina (2018), Dixie State (now Utah Tech, 2015-17), Humboldt State (2013-14), Tennessee (2010), Memphis (2007-09), North Carolina State (2006), and his alma mater Rocky Mountain College (2004-05).

Huge fan of this take! He’d be excellent, I imagine he’ll be next in line at msu if he doesn’t get snatched up before vigen heads to fcs.

Impossible take, nobody at U of Montana would want anyone with an WAAC mentality...

Why would I be kidding. Maybe a coordinator job would be more fitting first but the guys got great fcs head coach potential. He has also consistently recruited a big o line and has even beat hauck in some recruiting battles. I mean how many people could convince you to live in butte over missoula ahahah

I'm tapping into my Michigan connections with deep ties to Michigan high schools and colleges to do more background research on Tony Annese.

Found the 2013 article and suspension most of these guys are talking about in terms of his character, He shook a player by the shoulder pads and slapped one in the helmet. I think some people overreact to things. Otherwise he seems to be a super respected guy. he’d be a great coach for the griz. only downsides are he’s a bit older and i don’t think the guy wants to leave the state of michigan.
