Do you think coaching staff held back in Brawl 1.0

With Bobby saying multiple times before Brawl 1.0 that we would play again, do you think the coaching staff held back in terms of game planning?

The play calling has been so different the last two games, and I can't tell if it's because of match-ups or if it's just what's been building to all year.

I can't believe the Griz would sacrifice homefield thinking they didn't want to show everything, but I wonder. Otherwise why keep predicting we would play again.

I don't think the Cats held anything back. The literally have the same formula each game, they just dare teams to stop them, which no-one has yet.

It's so hard to know without being in the coaches meetings. It's a game of poker. Do you show all your cards in the first game if you know you will play again?

I've seen coaches call a more conservative game based on knowing they will see the same team later on in the season. Not sure if it happened in Brawl 1.0 but I have an inkling it did based on play calling and personnel. Some of that could have been because we had played 12 games in a row and had guys banged up. We won't know until Saturday.

To your last sentence, South Dakota St stopped them the 2nd week of the season in Bozeman. And the play calling has been different, that's all I will say

Absolutely not, not this game. Never the Griz-Cat game.

In that they didn't have two of their best defensive players who will be back for this game, yes. Other than that, no.

But I don't think it matters, because but for a lucky deflection to an out of position defender, the GRIZ win the first game.
A deflection and Dowler being out of alignment because fate? Idk. He wasn't where he was supposed to be or maybe he was, and the ball popped right into his hands. It happens.

These are the types of threads that make it hard to take the Griz fandom seriously sometimes. Do I think that Bobby is playing 4D chess by purposely only giving 80% effort in the rivalry and defacto conference championship game? No. No I do not think that.

I think MAYBE you could argue the defensive scheme was held back by the lack of Kyon Loud being on the field. But that certainly wasn't gamesmanship from the coaching staff.

Not having Tolbert in addition was also a problem.

I can imagine no scenario that would have Bobby not willing to put everything on the line to have home field advantage throughout. This shit show in Bozeman Saturday is the result. Be lucky if there's 1,000 Griz fans there.
