More or Less Confident?

Are you more or less confident of a GRIZ win Saturday than you were prior to the Brawl?

Depends on philosophy I suppose. If you think the coverage will hold up, you send less blitzers assuming the standard 3-4 rushers you have will get pressure eventually. Or if you want to be more aggressive, it allows you to keep fewer defenders on the back end and send more pressure because you're confident they can man up on 4-5 receivers for a few seconds. I haven't watched you guys play since we played you, so I really have no idea what you've been doing. What would you say the defense has done differently schematically since Loud's return?
It was rhetorical.

One other thing that gives me hope for this game is.......
USD kept Gillman, Davis and Rocker fairly quiet While Wortham went crazy.
SDSU kept Wortham a little quieter and Gillman, Rocker and Davis had great games.
I feel Montana has a ton of weapons and they can not all be limited by the cat D.
Key is can the o-line give Kay just a little bit more time than last game.
As has been mentioned Loud being back has just really brought the D up another level.

I'm honestly not sure how I feel. I have a lot more confidence in the team themselves, but Bobcat stadium has become a place that's just as hard for the opponent as WaGriz. On the other hand the cats have more pressure on them to win since they are favored and at home, but they also rarely ever lose at home, except to XDSUs. But then again, Montana beat SDSU and USD and has played better every week while the cats seem to be stagnating or regressing. I could see one team getting ahead and then avalanching the other and it could be either team depending on how the cookie crumbles. I'm praying the coaching staff has a plan to help the players be more loose about this game and just go in and have fun and play hard and up to their full potential. I think if that happens the Griz win.
I feel more confident in the team's ability to beat the cats but that comes with a caveat. The Griz are just plain terrible on the road in the playoffs. They are 1 and 13 on the road if you don't count the championship game at Marshall in 1995. In games leading up the Natty the only time that the Griz have won a road game was in 2008 at James Madison. So I think that the Griz are playing their best ball at the best time of the year and that they are way better positioned for a win than 3.5 weeks ago. It's just the road record in the playoffs that worries me and they be playing in what will be the most hostile environment that a Griz team in the playoffs has ever faced. Illinois State already has 3 road wins this year so perhaps the Griz can keep that narrative going. More confident than before and I hope that translates into a victory.

That stat is waaayyyy overblown. Most of those losses were to teams the GRIZ just weren't as good as. That's not the case here. And there's absolutely no reason Marshall shouldn't count.

Well that's the thing about stats, like em or not, they are the numbers of record. Nothing overblown about the facts. Add Marshall and now the Griz are 2 and 13. Whether or not prior Griz teams were as good as this year's team is not the point. It's just the history of poor road performances that find its way into the back of many Griz fan's head. A few of those road losses had some good Griz teams but none of them faced what will be coming up this weekend. I think this years team can break the trend especially with what's on the line and take back home a victory.

I suggest "Griz fan's head" have little to no meaning to the team.

We could just as easy make the argument about how many semifinals the bubs have won in bozeman.

See? It's pretty much meaningless and overstated.

0-0 that’s the score. The size of the field is the same in bozeman as anywhere else. The team is very veteran and our quarterback is pretty level headed. Provided Bobby has this team fired up before play starts and things don’t go sideways in the first this team has a very good chance on advancing.

Grizzlies……….34
kittens…………24
Go Griz!

Well said.
You’re reminding me of some things Coach said a few years ago about the temperature of things around Griz/Cat and I think that was good. I hope you’re right and the staff finds a way for them to play loose and have fun and get outta there with a win.

I fail to see how games from 30 years ago are reflective of today.

I'm not saying all of that stuff means nothing, but these are different teams than those. Road games in the playoffs will always be hard, but just because you've lost a bunch in the past with different teams doesn't mean this team will.

Totally disagree, Skookum, we have the better team with more all conference and more All American players, and now that we finally had a bye Week 1 of the playoffs--unlike your team and all other Div. I teams, we had no regular-season bye, we have Loud and Tolbert and perhaps one or two more back for Saturday, I think we're going to kick MSU's a$$ !!! And if we played 100 times, I think we win 55-70 of those games !!!
Let me know how much you're willing to lose.

Wait, which side are you on here? You're confusing my brain. 😵‍💫

Beginning the week of the 1st Griz/Cat game, one of the first things Bobby mentioned was we are probably going to see them again in the playoffs. As a former player and someone who has coached before, Bobby and his staff have been planning this moment for over a month in advance. Obviously you can't control the out come but you can prepare your team for every scenario and that's what Bobby and his staff have been doing.
Nothing is by chance with these coaches and this team. Everything they have been doing has a purpose and reason and it all started with that first game. By the way they called the game and how they attacked the Cats the first time. Bobby and his staff are playing chess while the Cats are playing checkers. I'm not going to go in to detail about what we didn't do the first time, but it was obvious that we had the bigger picture in mind.
While winning the Big Sky is goal, it's far from the main goal. Bobby isn't playing for some of the marbles on the table, he's been setting his team up to take ALL the marbles. I'm also not saying we lost to the Cats on purpose either because we didn't. But they knew it wasn't the end of the world if we lost the first time because of what they want to accomplish in the long run.
Of course we can't control the outcome, but we can set ourselves up to be in the best possible position to win it all which is what I believe Bobby and his staff have done. It's going to be a good game, but I think Bobby and his staff have these kids ready and exactly right where they need to be. Go GRIZ!!!
This! Double In Spades!

Of course, anything can happen when the game is played, but my confidence level is much higher. Based on the last two games, the Grizzlies are winning by outplaying their opponents. The Bobcats seem to be winning because their opponents are beating themselves.
I genuinely think people aren’t giving SFA enough credit. That was the best defense we have seen all year. I think the style of defense the cats play is bound to cause teams to struggle.
