How To Watch?

I am unfortunately traveling the day of "The Super Brawl: Cat/Griz - Part Deaux"

I land in Salt Lake at 2:15pm MT time. I have a 3 hour layover. Keeping in mind de-boarding and boarding the next flight. Do I watch what I can of the game in a sports bar at the airport, with wife and small kids in tow, and risk not really being able to watch intently, and maybe miss part of the game? Or do I have the willpower to keep my phone off, not check the score, and have my brother in law record it for me so I can watch it the next day in New York? All I want for Christmas is to watch the Brawl for it All.

You my friend are in a serious conundrum. Can you just cancel your trip? That seems like the easiest solution. :ROFLMAO:

Couple of questions. Is your wife and kids invested in the game at all? How young are they? Could they handle watching the game from one of the restaurants in SLC? If the answer to any of the questions is "no" you're better off trying the blackout. Otherwise, you could catch part of the game, probably missing the beginning and the end. I watched part of last year's NC game at Pizza Kitchen during a layover, so you don't have to just sit at a bar to catch the game. There are TVs everywhere in SLC.
 
If you have cable get the spectrum app, you can watch abc on your phone and use/buy WiFi for the plane ride. If u don’t have cable, id get it just for this game and cancel afterwards.

I tried to delay just my ticket by one day so I could stay behind and watch the game. I'll give you a guess of how well that went over with the wife, on our trip to visit her family for the holidays.

My kids are all little, but my oldest daughter (10) loves the Griz, and would probably sit with me to watch the game. The rest of the family has little to no interest in the game, and my wife would probably prefer not be around me when watching it LOL

I don't have cable but I do have hulu live and can watch ABC on my phone. I'm just wondering if it's worth it to wait, and wake up on Sunday in NY with watching the game to look forward to. But it would also be nice to have something to do for 3 hours in SLC airport.
 
I have to move one of my Daughters this weekend. Decided to drive up to Boise and back on Saturday.
I will listen to Riley and then rewatch game Saturday night.

I don't know about other providers but we get free Wi-Fi on the plane through T-Mobile.

Sounds like you need a new wife. Lol. Actually I'm in kind of the same boat. The game is at 3:00 p.m. my time and we have a funeral at 2:00. And there's no way I can get out of it (Don't jump to conclusions it's not a family member or anything but I still have to be there). So I feel your pain.
 
Let’s be real. Flights can be missed. Connections can be rebooked. Marriage counseling can be scheduled literally any weekday that ends in ‘y.’ But The Super Brawl: Cat/Griz…Part Deux happens once every 125 years, when the football gods align and fate demands sacrifice.

You absolutely post up at a Salt Lake airport sports bar. Kids can eat fries. Wife can judge you silently. That’s part of the tradition. You watch every snap you can, and if the boarding announcement comes at a critical moment, that’s just the universe testing your commitment.

Keeping your phone off and watching a recording later is a fantasy invented by people who don’t truly love this game. There is no ‘next day’ for the Brawl for it All. There is only now.

Worst case…you miss a flight. Best case…you witness history. I know which one future-you can live with.
 
My advice would be bad. I told my wife she could either have our daughter induced a day or early or have her Mom go in with her on that Saturday because I wasn't going to miss the Griz/Spuds game in 1994. My priorities were not right back then, or maybe they were. IDK. I have been dealing with that decision for 31 years.

In hindsight I would say go with the family and record the game. A a ride or die Griz fan? I'd find a way to be there. Hindsight is less painful.
 
wait and watch it later, without all the rushing around and anxiety of figuring out where to watch (slc bars can be crowded). watch it late at night, by yourself. you aren't out there playing, so does when you find out the winner really matter? a big part of the fun watching the game without knowing what might happen next, from the opening kick-off onward. plus, you can fast-forward through all the commercials, etc...
