Great hire for Portland State! Given the circumstances, this is a home run hire for the Viks! Job well done PSU!
CWU is a powerhouse?I would like to imagine that being the head coach for a DII powerhouse like CWU you'd get opportunities at better FCS programs. It'll be interesting to see if he is able to turn PSU around.
YesCWU is a powerhouse?
No, but they were ranked and seeded in the Division II football playoffs..They werent even an NAIA powerhouse.
Probably pays better that psuCWU is a powerhouse?
I said the lower 3rd of the conference, and I fully stand by that.Fitting too cause I remember earlier this season we posed the question of how many Big Sky teams could CWU beat? Unanimously we all said Portland State lol.
He has a tall challenge with an inner-city school with no real sports facilities, poor recruiting history and a dwindling fan, donor and alumni base. Wish him well. PSU and NOCO need to step up if they are to remain in this conference.
Definitely! If he can get Kennedy McGill to go with him to PSU, then that’s a great foundation to build around!I said the lower 3rd of the conference, and I fully stand by that.
And despite what pickle says, CWU is unquestionably one of the top DII programs in the country. As always, though, consider the source.
His NW connections -- particularly with transfers -- may be huge at psu. Central always has guys who didn't make it for whatever reason at Washington or Wazzu. Those guys might now consider psu with him there.
That's because they are D2.They werent even an NAIA powerhouse.
With their financial issues EWU is probably on this list as well, granted the better solution would be for us and the Cats to move up. There is alot more parity between the remaining Big Sky schools and they'd fit in well together as a Conference. It's us, Davis and the Cats that are the outliers overall in terms of facilities, fan base, booster and alumni support etc.I said the lower 3rd of the conference, and I fully stand by that.

Really, where would the pressure come from? The BSC seems to be quite comfortable with them.Wish him well. PSU and NOCO need to step up if they are to remain in this conference.
