ELITE- Ah Yat

Dont Kick 2 Bergen

Well-known member
I told you guys we would win this game against SDSU and we will take out the other team in SD this weekend in Missoula.

All last year I warned everyone about the talent of Ah Yat and the majority pissed on him and wanted Fife to start, Shows you what they know about playing QB. Ah Yat is a complete player, his accuracy is elite, his arm is good/elite. He is more mobile than people give him credit for, he could take over a game with his legs if he wanted to, but he is a QB he distributes the ball and knows where to go with the ball. He is adept at getting everyone where they need to be pre-snap and changes protections based on what he sees from the defense. AY processes information well and remains cool in the pocket even in high stress situations. His demeaner doesn't change, he is a leader. I could see it last year he commands the team and they play better because of him. He makes people around him better.

He is only going to improve and his ceiling is still very high. We haven't seen QB play like this in my lifetime. My dad was saying after the game he hadn't seen a Montana offense like that since Don Read was coaching. Electric, precision passing down field stressing the Jack defense vertically opened up the run game. I know in my short life I have not seen a Montana QB with an arm like this and I have never seen a more accurate QB in WGS while growing up or playing against other teams. Not one

Montana had the best QB on the field and it wasn't even close.

Enjoy it because this doesn't come around often

We agree! It was weird how many here (not all) shit on him and couldn't see the development and talent. KAY is awesome, and still has room to grow 💪💪

Fully agree with everything you said except you should note this year’s Ah Yat and last year’s are on a completely different level. Though fair enough if you want to say you told us so. Ah Yat is playing at an elite level and is easily one of the best in the country.

Others may have a different opinion but here is mine. The constant QB rotation last year hurt both of them. Each had their moments to shine. Yet overall in most games Fife typically looked like the better option. Not every game but overall.

People were “pissing” on him last year? Obviously he wasn’t near as good last year as evidenced by coaches not handing him the reins outright. I think a lot of fans thought Fife’s play was the best chance to win last year. Again, the coaches decisions around splitting reps between them showed their belief somewhat in that as well.

However, Ah Yat is elite this year and his play puts him strongly in the argument as the best QB in all of FCS this year. Kudos to him for the improvement and development in the off season. It’s tough to see anything but the Griz winning it all this year with the way he is playing.

I couldn’t disagree more. The application from last year developed into today’s results. Whenever something is being built over the course of time, the process is critical. The phrase “Trust the Process” is not just words meant for a bumper sticker. Bobby has the ability to implement a multi year process without having to worry about getting fired. Weird 😂. We live in a cenacle world. Patience is a forgotten virtue. Hats off to the coaching staff. Hats off to the players for buying in and putting in the work.
12-1. Go Griz!

What's the old saying; if you have 2 QBs you have none?

AY Yat was the better QB last year, but he was dinged for awhile and we had to go with the lesser option in Fife. It wasn't even close as to who gave us the best chance to win and DWTF is right all of the experience AY Yat got last year paid off this year. If he had not got hurt he would be even further along.

How scary is that?

I can't agree more Ah-Yat is elite.

Given the nasty tone people had last year when talking about how Ah Yat will never be the future, I'm giving DK2B a pass on this one.
It is true. That’s why I think it’s also important to look at all three groups of fans last year. Those groups being; he is the man, it’s not yet his time, and the he never will be group. The latter group was full of a bunch of guys that clearly didn’t see the ceiling, and carried some misguided animosity and frustration like a torch for KAY specifically.

I found myself in the middle group where he wasn’t as accurate last year, struggled with the deep ball, took many unnecessary hits, didn’t throw the ball away/took bad sacks, but yet he showed real flashes of what could be like the first TD against UND or literally carrying the team against Western Carolina with his legs. His year was ultimately derailed d/t multiple injuries. Fife became hot against Eastern and Weber, so there wasn’t a need to rush back a young guy and screw up his recovery, or stifle his development.

To be fair, even with this current version of KAY, last years defense was not at a level to give us the result of this years team.

His step forward and development this year is extraordinary, and the end of the UND game flipped a switch in him. The best part is I believe is ceiling is still higher. Happy for him and this team and looking forward to him putting in more work and topping his old man.

The people pissing on him that I know of were saying he sucked and would never be any good. I heard one guy say “the Griz qb of the future isn’t currently on the roster” at the end of the year last year. The truth is most people have zero concept of what it takes to make a good qb, however there were a few of us that understood KAY was that guy.
