For the record I never have wanted to coach, so for whoever started this thread I am sorry but I am out. Thank you though for wanting the Griz to be better and not failing victim to the cult of mediocre Griz football, of which the leaders are posting on here repeatedly. They seem to be happy with one Big Sky Championship and one National title appearance in 16 years. They also seem pretty content losing to the Cats 7 of 9 years. I am happy that you demand better and are vocal about it to counter these people’s terrible opinions. You are doing great work.

Perhaps if we come together instead of wasting time on this site we can invest in the program and cure some of the previously stated deficiencies. It is certainly better than claiming everything is fine when we have had one good year in 15 and the Cats have owned us for a decade. Or we can cry about my show on here and get dominated for another decade. Your call.

Well know looky here. It seems the Dumbest Post Ever on Egriz has brought out a Schmidt storm of posters. I am not going to repeat who came to the party as you can all read the posts for yourself. I could understand this argument from Schmidt if this season went the same way last season did, or if the Griz had gotten completely outclassed by the cats two weeks ago, but this is quite the overreaction from Schmidt. Yes the cat loss sucked, but to act like they just dominated us isn't even remotely close to reality. What I saw was two evenly matched teams that both belonged on the same field. One team played a perfect game, and the other played a near perfect game with 2-3 mistakes that ended up being the difference. That's all that game came down to. None of this major philosophical BS that Schmidt has been crying about all year. The fact of the matter is we're 11-1 with the only loss coming by 3 points, and the ultimate goal is still right there for the Griz, just on a little tougher path now.

And guess what? Now the Griz have an opportunity to do something on Saturday that they haven't done in a decade, and that's beat SDSU who's been the gold standard of the FCS. If we do beat them, then we will most likely get the re-match with the cats and we'll see how that unfolds. If we get by the cats, then we'll find out once and for all if we can actually beat NDSU on a neutral field. What will Schmidt have to say at that point? There's still plenty of Football to be played!

They are my friends. Levi texted me today. He had a few questions for me. I also donate to his nonprofit. He texted me when he came over for the hall of fame dinner and weekend and intro at halftime of former Griz Native American athletes. Quinn has been my good friend since he came to Missoula. Love that guy. He invited me to his wedding and I attended. Only 2 Griz fans were there. He invited me to his house in Frisco for a big BBQ 2 years ago before the champ game and asked me to invite some people. I invited a number including the Hill family, Trumaine and several other d-backs in that group, etc. Quinn takes my wife and me to dinner at the Depot every time he comes to Missoula. In the summers, all of those guys and more come to our lake place on occasion. Russum is a very good friend. When he lived in Scottsdale, I saw him more. He has had some real estate at Flathead that I have helped him with. We have done some favors for each other. When he was working in the Bakken in ND, he came to a branding at our ranch on the fort peck reservation. Some of my kids including my 35 year old daughter know some of these guys too. I helped some of these guys too especially the OL. When you are good to people and help them with advice or whatever, you become friends. Pony knows some of these guys too especially the OL. He officiated Quinn’s wedding Big Sky. Don’t you keep in touch with friends? Don’t you have friends of various ages? One of my best friends is a 91 year old Dartmouth ‘56 who comes over from Seattle several times a year. We communicate all the time and he has me on most of his many ‘56 communications. He played lacrosse against Jimmy Brown. I am good friends with Snyder, Varona and Horgan too. Went to along their weddings. I know and like his parents too. I am friends with Colt, Mariani and Chase. Went to Colt’s wedding. A number of these guys worked for me in college. I know alot of people and am good to them, and they are good to me. There you are. More than you wanted to know.

I would say that supporting a program is way more important and positive than complaining about it. Especially an FCS program. Supporting a program is not the same as being “okay” with results. Everyone wants to win, but winning all the time is just not possible and never has been. I don’t know what complaining about a program on a podcast or message board does to improve anything. Makes more bad fans, in my view, many of whom are not supportive.

It is wrong to say that Taber and other supporters are hurting the program. Just not true. I could argue that critics and complainers are hurting the program.

If complainers think they have something to make the program better, they should meet with the AD, President and Head Coach and make their suggestions. That’s my view anyway.
