Jonathan Smith

He hasn’t coached college for 3 seasons and previously spoke about his disdain for NIL.
Who cares if he hasn't coached for 3 years, other than you?

Lots of coaches don't like NIL. But they still use NIL in a big way. It's not going away.

The question is he going to use NIL or try to reject it like he did at Northwestern? The game is completely different now than 3 years ago where it seemed like he did not want to adapt to changes at that time. He reportedly interviewed that he is going to embrace NIL and the changing landscape but I will believe it when I see it. I hope I am wrong I would love to see Michigan State do well but I don’t see it. Big 10 is tough and Michigan State is at a disadvantage having Michigan in their state vs programs like Ohio State, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Penn State where they are the only big time program in their state.

Smith is a way better coach than Vigen. Another dumb post by you.
57-12 vs 43-50 career records. Which is better? Idk I didn’t go to Dartmouth but winning 83 percent of your games is better than less than 50 percent based on the math education I received at UM. Let’s compare conference records at respective MSU 37-3 vs 1-14. Which one of these is better?

Which are better schools with tougher competition and harder places to coach? Did you think MSU is a better school than Oregon State or Michigan State?

I wonder if egriz could create a "Kid's Section" for posters like you, so you wouldn't waste so much space and time for other more knowledgeable posters. Just when it seems that you couldn't make a more stupid post, you surprise us.

Can you name any FBS school that is not using and embracing NIL? I will wait for your list.

And I also mean the new in-house payments that are effectively NIL controlled by the football coaches and athletic department.

Clemson for one currently and Michigan State would be a second based off of this history since Northwestern was another 3 years ago.

you mean tackle him, but somehow he gets the credit for it, adding to the record?

Saban won there.

Saban won there.
Dantonio won there even more than Saban. Dantonio was a great coach and it was a solid program going to CFP not too long ago. 2013-2015 were the best years Michigan State has had since Duffy Dougherty in the 50s and 60s.

You are so stupid.

“Yes, Clemson uses Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) for its student-athletes
, with programs like Reign and the 110 Society to help athletes profit from their brands and comply with university and NCAA rules. Following recent settlements, the university will also begin paying athletes directly through a new revenue-sharing model.
  • Reign: This is Clemson's official NIL program, designed to provide student-athletes with resources and opportunities to earn compensation for their name, image, and likeness.
  • 110 Society: Launched in 2023, this is an entity established to manage all NIL activities for the university, acting as a central point for NIL-related support and opportunities.
  • Clemson Exchange: The university has partnered with INFLCR to create a business registry that connects student-athletes with NIL opportunities.
  • New revenue-sharing model: As part of a recent court settlement, Clemson will start directly paying student-athletes, which is in addition to any third-party NIL deals they secure.
  • Rules and guidelines: The university has established policies for NIL activities, which include rules about using university intellectual property, prohibited categories (like alcohol and tobacco), and the requirement for athletes to disclose their agreements. ”
