I mean I'd expect to him to bolt at the first opportunity but he did do some great things at OSU before leaving. And idk why it never felt he'd succeed at MSU, bring him in and take over for when Pease retires.
 
Michigan State hired former Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald. That's a pretty good hire! If you can win at Northwestern, then you can definitely win at Michigan State.

speaking of consultants.......I'm wondering if Barnum comes (hopefully bringing any quality PSU guys with him)
 
I was surprised Smith took the job. Oregon State was circling the drain, but Michigan State was caught up in a recruiting scandal and had to vacate its wins in 2024.
Former Griz coach Legi Suiaunoa also on that staff.
 
I was not impressed by the Mel Tucker hire, even less impressed with the Jonathan Smith hire and am now wonder what is going on in East Lansing if they are now bringing in a coach who has been out of it for 3 years and left his past job due to scandal. The other MSU in Bozeman has hired a better coach with a fraction of the budget than any of the clowns hired over in East Lansing. Ever since Dantonio left their program has been circling the drain. Sad to see because I have had many family members attend and even play for Michigan State.

Smith is a way better coach than Vigen. Another dumb post by you.
