Eli Gillman - Big Sky offense MVP

But here's the frustrating thing - since Craig Haley himself sets the Payton finalist list, he opted to leave THE BEST offensive player in the Big Sky out. I know that the YSU QB is probably the guy that's going to get it, but still, on the finalist list of 30 guys you leave Eli out? Come on man!

But what happened to " The Missoula Bobcat," Adam Jones--he was preseason Big Sky Offensive MVP, preseason All Big Sky, preseason Payton, preseason Heisman, preseason All-Pro 🤔 ?

And did you know he's a Bobcat ... from Missoula. ?

I think that being the POY was accomplished for two big reasons...the first is what he did on the field. The second, what he did to opposing coaches to have to game plan against him. That in itself is a huge reason. If you have to plan to shut a guy down, you know he is good.

Absolutely correct! Same reason a nose tackle can be defensive MVP in ‘23. Your entire game plan revolves around stopping or neutralizing one player. Vigan said in his press conference last week, in ‘23 #99 caused them real problems. Same with Eli. Those runs for no gain he has open up everything else for the offense. And he still puts up the numbers. Conference coaches know. Payton voters are too lazy to dig deep. That’s why Dickenson was Big Sky MVP in ‘93 and Idaho’s Nussmeyer won the Payton.
