Congrats to Coach Hauck, Eddie Robinson Award Finalist in 2025

For the third time in his illustrious career, Montana's record-setting head coach Bobby Hauck has been named a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Award, presented annually to the FCS national Coach of the Year, Stats Perform announced Monday.

Hauck, who recently became the winningest coach in both overall and league wins in Big Sky Conference history and is one of the top 10 winningest active coaches in all D-I football, was one of 15 finalists for the 2025 Robinson Award. He was also a finalist in 2009 and 2023.

for some reason you all take my lack of satisfaction with the current state of affairs and the people who created them very personally.
I don't believe anyone is taking your 'lack of satisfaction' personally. I think a lot of people disagree with your opinion that 11-1 in a season where we were picked 7th in the preseason poll is reason to can the coach that is now 149-42 at UM.

If you're saying that, there should be some opposition to your opinion, but don't hold yourself in such high regard that you believe that anyone takes your comments personally because all that is an inflation of your ego.

Not taking it personally ... just puzzled. Most of us see the "current state of affairs" as being pretty "satisfactory." So they lost a close game to a very good MSU team? Sad, but not the end of the world. Otherwise: Griz have 11 wins (an impossible dream for most programs, FCS or FBS), and are in the running for a Natty. What more do you want, caviar with your truffles.

Very good perspective here Ida.

It brings to mind something I saw on FBSchedules website around April where someone was talking about hiring KC Keeler at Temple from Sam Houston State. As some of you may be aware, my wife is a SHSU grad, so I follow them by necessity, as she does the same with the Griz (she's a fan, don't let her fool you). I was happy to see Keeler hit the door for a number of reasons, but what I saw on FBSchedules was a Temple fan commenting that Keeler could easily get the Owls to 7 or 8 wins a year. I thought at that time about how that would just not work in Missoula where 8 doesn't make you automatically eligible for the post season, and most years 7 isn't getting it done, but the state of Temple football is that this is acceptable.

Incidentally, Temple is 5-6 this year and won't beat North Texas to become bowl eligible. The Bearkats went from 10-3 last year to 2-9 this year, but my opinion is that even with Keeler, that's where they would be.

In any case, it's all about be careful what you wish for. If you want Hauck to vacate, the next guy in might just make Bob Stitt look like a genius.

I would actually argue that Hauck’s work bringing together a team of 50 new faces, making them gel, and going 11-1 and getting a 3 seed is probably some of his best work yet. I remember a lot of people here saying that many new people would not go well.
And all of that--unlike our neighbors to the east, west and south--without a bye. Twelve consecutive football games in a row is brutal--Little Guy, high school, college--FCS, NAIA, FBS, or pro--Arena, CFL, or NFL. !!!
