O’Connell first career start

Patty O made the most of his first career start for the Seahawks in their win today. Second on the team in tackles with 9 and had a sack. Glad he made it on the field after a solid preseason, getting waived then signed back to the practice squad and putting in the work.

“We have an ongoing joke on our ready squad that we can’t block Patty on a daily basis,” Macdonald said.”

On a somewhat related note: I never understood why O'Connell wasn't selected as 37 in 2022. He had the most tackles, the most TFLs and yards lost, the most sacks by a mile, and the most forced fumbles.
The fluidity of criteria for awarding the 37 is part of what’s so fun to debate. That year was of course the weirdness of what happened internally after Jace Lewis picked Welnel—a really good player but not at all an insult to say he wasn’t at the same level as Pat because Pat is NFL talented. Sometimes it goes to the best player, other times to a player that brings other qualities and attributes that represent the Griz well.
