No questions, but a massive thanks to you, James, Mike and Luke for being so gracious when we met y'all yesterday.
Despite the loss (which damn well sucks) we had a wonderful time wandering the tailgate area and watching the game. Had some of the best gumbo i've ever tasted, as well as an Up With and a Cold Smoke (thanks to Brint for the Cold Smoke). And meeting Reinell at his spot was great fun.
The North End Zone is the place to be for a game!
Makes me thankful to be a part of such a great fan base, even if we live on the other side of the country. Go Griz!

PS-- you haven't lived till you've been pummeled by a flying Twinkie after a Griz TD 😅

Anyone else think it's a little too much of a coincidence that your scat guest predicted the first team to score would win and the first score was a scat FG and they win by three? This has conspiracy theory written all over it.
 
Going along with PDXGrizzly’s question when/will will someone on the coaching staff confront Bobby with the fact that the 3-3-5 is complete garbage? Rhetorical question. I know no one is going to
 
First of all, great game yesterday. Griz have some dudes. Presuming you play South Dakota State (very similar style to the Cats). What adjustments do you hope your Griz team make? Think it could be a very entertaining game.

I thought it was more annoying/troubling that they seemed to play more conservatively with their LBs and safeties, apparently giving way more credit to a pass game that seemed only slightly better than years past, and less credit to a run game that is still pretty gawdamn good. Lamson isnt Tommy, but hes still runs hard as shit and seemingly comfortable operating their read option run game.

Question for the pod, will the griz coaching staff adjust their in state recruiting mindset and approach, and when will we focus strongly on getting a gubner-like d tackle every year? I thought the Montana kids made the difference. I do give the staff a bit of leniency on crews and jones. I think had the whole situation not went down the way it did, we obviously have crews, and probably jones too. We had the inside track with him before the crews scenario went down the way it did. But other than that, we need to get more of the top Montana kids. Dowler twins, Cole Taylor (his uncle and grand parents have season tickets directly behind the griz bench, uncle played for the griz), several of the o line and dline are Montana kids. Etc.

Bottom line is, no excuses. Our university as a whole, and the football team too, need to be better at recruiting our back yard, and our state as a whole. It can't be talked about enough. It's time to fucking figure it out, or we'll continue to get worked in enrollment, and may find ourselves on the shitty end of a more and more lopsided recent rivalry record.
 
With the state of college football concerning the revolving door of players, does it seem that Hauck and the griz have decided to just recruit the best proven athletes they can get in the portal? Then design an offense and defense to fit them?
Would a better approach be to go after young guys, and develope them into your offensive and defensive scheme with the next man up coming from your roster? Which seems to be Coach Vigan's approach.
 
well, Mike Nugent, a.k.a. Nostradamus, you had commented earlier in the year that the big sky refs are not calling offensive holding in the box, but they will at the most inopportune time for “the Griz" now I know it’s a loser mentality to blame the loss on that. We had other opportunities to win, couldn’t stop them on their last drive as they ran out the clock and a lot of other things, but I just want your comments on that even though you probably already touched on it earlier in the pod.

also, personally, if our record is 1-1 with the cats each year, I’d rather beat them in the playoffs then in the brawl. What do you guys think?
 
Brint: please address how the 2-5 record against MSU is unacceptable, but you truly know that if they won yesterday against that good MSU team that we would all be pleased/happy with the 3-4 record.
Luke, Mike & Brint please discuss how the narrow difference in the game between two nearly evenly-matched teams was down to 3-4-5 plays (pick-6 ball goes directly to MSU safety, Crews jumps 4 feet in the air and gets one arm up to perfectly block the kick, MSU quarterback scrambles, MSU fumble recovery, holding call negates a Griz TD, etc.).
Please discuss how Vigen's interviews specifically-addressed how Gubner was such a disrupting-force in the 2023 game and the Bobcat offensive production difference yesterday.
 
Is it weird that I feel more confident in this team after that loss than before? We had to make three bad mistakes for the Cats to pull it out - the pick six, the holding call negating Brooks TD, and a missed FG. Any of those go the other way the Griz win (or extend the game). And that's against apparently the second best team in FCS.
 
Special teams was bad yesterday. Not horrid, but bad. How much emphasis is Bobby going to put on special teams during an off week? Does Robby suddenly show up on the sidelines as a “volunteer” since his season and likely career are done at PSU?

Do the Griz finally decide on one center?

If the Griz play the Cats again, what to do about Lamson. Put a spy on him? I don’t think the defense has that luxury. There seem to be a speed deficit yesterday with our LB’s. Sure miss Wilson!

The correct answer would be that he didn't have time against their defense blowing through our o-line, so had to check to the sidelines.

Or the correct answer is that their safeties were at 10 and 12 yards and their corners were at 7 and moving backwards on the snap of the ball.

Maybe we wanted to control the clock and keep their offense off the field and give our defense a break. There’s been a lot of complaints about the defense giving up ridiculous amounts of yards when we’ve scored so quickly so often that they end up on the field 40 minutes of the game. Seems intentional. There was a lot open too. We set up a shot early in the game and KAY missed the read or had enough pressure that he couldn’t get to it.
 
With the Cats D playing 2 Deep, what is your opinion of Pease or Ah Yat not getting the TE's more involved. The pick-6 play, Ah Yat had the TE wide open at the sticks. Force the D to tighten up which may open the middle.
