Tipped Pass Pick Six the difference

Cats didn’t need to score last possession just run out clock so not sure the Griz FG block really mattered in big picture. Both teams had huge plays called back with penalties. One team just had to run out the clock in final drive when you knew they were running the ball the other team got beat upfront when it mattered and let them.

There was a TE or receiver, wide open and planted, to the middle right of the receiver who tipped ball. The read could have been better. To me, the ball was mostly just too high and too far in front of the receiver. That happens. You just try to not have it happen.
Agreed. Wide open

It made a difference, but the defense has got to be able to get some stops...that is absolutely what wins championships. They didn't get it done today. Much season to go.

The scats offense scored 24 points. Their lowest conference output by far. Our O scored 28.

The pick six was entirely the difference. That and the holding call on the TD.

This game in no way falls on the defense. Sure they couldn’t get a stop AT THE END, but they did fine all day, relatively to literally anyone else the ‘scats have played.

It was a really bad call. The player that was “held” had no chance of making a play given his position on the field. Bad call. One thing that was out of the norm for the Griz was field position. Poor decisions on kickoff returns. Also, I only remember one returnable punt? Deck did fine fielding it. Kickoffs absent one, just weren’t good.
What was “bad” about it was that Shaffer didn’t need to do it at all BECAUSE the guy had no chance of making the play in his position. A totally unnecessary play that cost us a TD.

Yep. Shaffer was wide open.

Lamson played his ass off. That sure didn't help. He was particularly effective. Not sure if it was an outlier or the norm.

I have a question for some of you folks that know football: why did we not once throw the long ball? I suppose the first t d to Davis might just barely be called a long ball but to my recollection that was our only long ball attempt of the day. Why?

They did put us in a position to win. Couldn’t do it at the end. Thought they played well. Some bad tackling led to a few extra yards here and there that made the difference

A Few plays on either side of the ball could have made the difference.

Wortham was pushed from behind and fell down, could have been called a penalty but refs were letting them play.
It was early contact but I thought it was a good no call. The hold, though, was classic BSC officiating. Without that there is no blocked FG and Griz have both the lead and control of the momentum. Totally changed the game outcome. Even if the Cats score after that, the Griz would be down by at most 4 and would go on to make it up. Instead, it was a 14 point swing.
