Montana State Bobcats scouting report

What do you mean good teams?? In the FCS that’s very subjective. Cats have only lost to NDSU, UM, SDSU… literally three teams in the entire FCS division have shown they can beat MSU. If that’s your measuring stick is everyone else a bad team??

That’s the point really. There are no more than five teams every year, really probably 3 or 4 that can win the natty. Cats lost to SDSU, NDSU and the Griz. All three in big games. Those are the good teams!

Nah. Those are the fcs elite teams. UND, SDU, Idaho, Uc Davis, ect are good teams that can potentially knock us off every once in a while.

I was referring to our ability to play man. In the past we couldn’t but with our fast secondary we have the ability to play man and make Ah Yat uncomfortable.
I don't think we will though, unless absolutely forced to. We are going to rush 4 and try to change the picture for him, I would guess.

One of the reasons the Cats defense has been so effective is their ability to disguise different coverages. We mostly run zone coverage schemes, with limited blitzing with the goal of keeping everything in front and making the throwing windows as small as possible for the QB. Most of the big plays we've given up in the pass game are when the LB's dont get a good drop to their zones.
UC Davis ate your secondary alive. Their freshman QB delivered a couple questionable throws, but his wr's did him dirty with missed opportunities and dropped balls. Money Mike will be an absolute nightmare for your secondary. However, I do worry about the griz offensive line being able to contain and control the LOS. The Cats DLINE is incredibly talented.

Reading this scouting report pretty much killed any confidence I had this week. I really want the result to be different, but I’m expecting a fall to 4, after this week and a trip to Fargo the week before Christmas

Track Speeds From Hs (they are likely faster now).

McMillan - 10.45 100m
Ross - 10.75 100m
Boyd - 10.48 100m
C Dowler - 11.22 100m (2022)
Williams - 11.09 100m
Johnson - 23.08 200m
Thomas II - 11.19 100m
(For reference Taco ran 10.92 his senior year, although he is definitely faster)

Griz WR
Davis - 10.86 100m
Bridges - 10.70 100m
Hendrix - 10.43 100m (Freak athlete)

Yes I feel comfortable saying the cats can run with your WRs. Dowler who is likely the slowest plays safety.
Hey dummy - football speed... receivers know where they are going.

Do they let you post dumb stuff on litterbox nation?

Tell me you haven't watched the Cats without telling me. They play almost no man, almost never blitz, and have not had to load the box to stop the run, allowing them to change the picture from pre to post snap in the back end. The 2 keys in the game for the Cats are handling the RPO and that Lamson can settle in and play well. Cats are better on both lines of scrimmage.
If the cats don't play some man coverage - Gilman is gonna hang 120 yards on them...

Cats are screwed.

Good stuff.. hope they keep doing this. KAY will pick that shit apart.

Lamson’s played at Clemson, Notre Dame, and Oregon

Wa Griz is going to be very loud but those are two of the top 10 loudest stadiums in the country.
Clemson game was 40-14 he played in 4th quarter and scored a touchdown, really loud then.
Notre Dame you say ND 49-7 and one score in the 4th by Lamson 2-4 passing, Ill bet it was scary load then too.

234 yards passing is "Eating our secondary alive?" Then what did the EWU redshirt QB do to yours?

Thank you for illustrating my point. You know he played at Stanford, yada, yada, yada...

Lamson has SEEN some large quiet stadiums. Yet he hasn't experienced what awaits him this Saturday.

The Clemson game he played throughout the whole game- he was playing wildcat usually on 3rd and 4th down and it was 100% loud.

This reminds me of 92-08 when every time the Griz played a southern team all we heard about was "southern speed". Never really was a problem for the Griz

Although it is much, much colder, Bozeman is south of Missoula.

Just saying, Southern speed...

Did those southern speed teams have the best DL in the country?
No money they were not the almighty Bobcats of Bozeman the greatest to ever play football!
We are blessed to get to watch the unbeatable Bobcats. Truly it is amazing that the NCAA and federal government allow the Bobcats such an amazing team to play such an overmatched Griz squad.
Oh the mighty Bobcats all hail! Not a sliver of hope that the Griz can keep it within 48 pts.
Tell us more about how the Griz have zero chance please please uncle money!

I have seen most of the bobcat games and I beg to differ at least a little bit. Although it's true that the bobcats play predominantly zone, it seems to me that it's cover 1 and 2 man. Meaning the slot, TE or WR are covered man until the back end picks up in zone. Not always but quite often. I suspect they will play a moderate amount of that style against the griz.
