is it just me (probably), or is there anyone else out there who is more interested in what the first playoff game brings than cat-griz? it's always good to beat the cats, but win or lose, the griz will be a seeded team, and probably be at home at least until a semi-final, if they make it that far. the cat game isn't a 'win or you are out' contest, and how the griz are playing in the playoffs is more important than how they will play against the cats. obviously it's a wild guess on my part, but with the bye week some players may have time to heal up, and the team might be stronger because of the return of a few of the better players. or maybe not.

ok, start taking your pot-shots at me :)

To me, the playoff seeding doesn't matter for the cat/griz game. The griz lose to the cats, I believe they only fall to #3 maybe #4. I don't see them farther than that (how could they?).

My point, I dont care about who they play as much as I care about ensuring they get homefield advantage THROUGHOUT. So yes, The cats game IS important. They lose, they'll surely fall. Homefield throughout the semi finals is extremely important.

No, Cat-Griz is way more personal. I think you’re doing what I do when start dooming, and that’s steeling yourself against the impending heartbreak they will inflict and having to listen to those arrogant pricks for another offseason.

You guys must not have die-hard Cat fans who make your life miserable for the next year if they win. If you live in Missoula, you are likely isolated from what ass-hats Cat fans can be. And, yes, I give the same back if we win.

So, I have always felt that if we beat the Cats, I don't care if we win another game. Not entirely true, but this is the most important game of the year for me. FTC!

yeah, i took that into account, but there's a long way to the semifinals, plus the griz have mostly played quite well on the road this year.

Against an above-average but still bad Idaho State team, a terrible Weber State team, a playoff bubble Sac State, and abysmal Portland State

Not exactly the same caliber as NDSU

The teams I wouldn't want on the side of the bracket we land on.

#1 - NDSU - the only team where we will be a major underdog. We'll want to see them in the title game, so we make it to that game.
A distance #2 - UND - they looked like the better team for 55 minutes in our preseason game. Their O-line are the DOLA lineup we've been collectively dreaming of for decades. They were pushing the Bizon's D-line back 3-4 yards in that close loss. They could very well knock off NDSU if they are in the same bracket.
#3 - YSU - their QB looks to be on a roll & we have made several young QBs look VERY good.
#4 - MSU - A all Montana title game would be epic. I wonder if they could move that game to Helena. Do they have pop-up stadiums with 50k seating?

Teams we want on our side of the bracket:

Any southern team, at home, in December.
Harvard needs a good welcoming to the FCS playoffs.

So you are scared of the MVFC and bubs? Guess what, some of those will be on the same side of the bracket as the Griz.

You know this has been discussed before and it is real in my opinion. Cats got beat down for 16 straight years! 16! When they win, they are insufferable. (So are some Griz fans when the situation is reversed). I find that I don’t even rub it in when the Griz win. I am simply satisfied that all is right in the world. Cat fans can’t help themselves. They have been picked on for so long and they are truly little bro. You almost can’t blame them - so I pray the Griz curb stomp them. Home field on the line, the rivalry, the BSC Championship. There is no bigger game this season than the Brawl. Bobby isn’t like Vigen. He will have his team emotionally prepared and this team needs to believe they are up against real competition before they truly show up. Thus far they appear to up their game when it matters and they believe it will be a game. UND, Idaho and Sac State being proof. Don’t forget they are hearing they are underdogs at home. Even if they aren’t hearing it, that will be the message in the locker room from Bobby. Chips will be big on the shoulders.

It asked if more interested in first playoff game or Griz Cat game? Really stupid question. But many Griz fans love that first home playoff win like no other.
And pretty much everyone stated the importance of Griz Cat for being #2 and getting homefield, which of course would improve the position to be #1 when it is over. The first home playoff game will come either way, but I really like that third home playoff game.

Absolutely this Brawl game matters. Winning or losing on Saturday is the difference between being the #2 seed and at home in Washington-Grizzly Stadium until Nashville, or having to go to either Fargo or, God forbid, Bozeman, in the semifinals.
