Montana, MSU, and NDSU have not....

had a coaching change in this newest portal era.
These three teams have not had a coach move up to an FBS program and gut a team like SDSU,Idaho and a few others.
SDSU lost I believe 13 players to WSU and their QB went to Iowa
Idaho lost several players that followed ECK. Eck also picked up some other FCS talent.
Both teams will miss the playoffs this year. They lost starters and had what would have been their backups starting and lost depth.

Which makes you wonder what would happen to one of the top three FCS teams if their coach moved up?
Would players follow Vigen? How many? Vigen would be smart if he took an FBS job to reach out to top level BSC talent to join him.
NDSU coach would be a great get, he could potentially bring an entire o-line, and d-line to build off of. I think NDSU players would follow a coach if he got a Big TEN gig.

The portal now days makes losing a coach tougher than ever before IMO

What are your thoughts?

Any following players first question would be, “Show me the money”!
Depending on the school there would be plenty of Money. WSU and NMSU must have been able to pay decent. CSU going into the PAC-7 will have money to offer.

I haven't followed WSU at all. How many of the SDSU players that came are starting there?

Same questions with Eck at Idaho?

I don’t know. Yes, this is the portal era with NIL money. I don’t think NDSU gets hurt as much as the Griz and Cats. Their history shows continuity with maintaining championship winning teams and they just slot another coach in to replace the last. They must have NIL money to get and keep players in the door. If there o linemen and d linemen wanted to play somewhere else, they probably would. It isn’t like a coach leaving means the offers start coming in. They have been and will keep coming in regardless the coach.

I honestly don't think the Griz or Cats get hurt that much either with a coaching change, especially if the new coach continues the same style and program traditions. I just think the cultures at Montana, Montana State, and NDSU are at this point bigger than any coach that leaves. Players want to play for these programs.

I think all 3 would reload decently well, NDSU in particular has shown they can do it arguably the best in FCS year after year. I don't see Hauck leaving Montana before he retires but both NDSU and MSU could easily lose their coaches either this or next few seasons.

Keep an eye on Wyoming (Sawvel is very unpopular) and New Mexico in particular. If Eck is hired away by OSU or CSU and if Wyoming fires Sawvel I could see both leaving.

Is NIL money/payouts in the public domain? I mean, how do you see these figures?
