As expected, most of the changes in the poll happened in the lower half of the list. Higher up, the pollsters decided that Tarleton’s big win over another cupcake was enough to nudge them past Tennessee Tech, which lost to an FBS. We should not be surprised by that; they’ve been coddling the Texans and their pitiful schedule all year long. After that, they hammered UC-Davis down much more than I expected after a road loss to a highly ranked team.
Then, despite those four losses in a row, they did not drop South Dakota State nearly as much as I expected. Continuing their MVFC bias, they also let Southern Illinois off easy. Sigh.

Going to be really interesting to see what happens after the Brawl. What would they do with a 9-3 cats team? What would they do with an 11-1 Griz team? If Griz lost to the cats, I see no case to drop UM below the 4 seed line.

Not sure how they keep SDSU in the top 25 with 4 straight losses. This is obviously NOT the same team and it has much more to do with failures across both the DEFENSE and OFFENSE and not just the loss of the QB1.
It will probably not matter as I could see them losing their 5th straight after their trip to Grand Forks this week.
I really hope UC Davis can take care of business with SAC State and send the Hornets on their way.
 
As is often the case, it appears several voters were not really paying attention to actual game results.

With their fifth straight loss So. Dakota State should remain securely in the top 25.

Well, duh! Another case in point: Lamar loses a game. Yes, to a ranked opponent, but the game was not as close as the final score suggested (late garbage-time score for Lamar). Other losing teams dropped (even T Tech that lost to an FBS), yet somehow Lamar stayed exactly the same.
 
Texas has 9 FCS teams, with memberships in three different athletic conferences. The combined membership of those three conferences is 32 with members spread across nine states (Florida to Utah).
That's a lot of conference ADs and media types familiar with Texas FCS schools, a lot of games with common opponents to compare, etc., which is to say a lot of potential votes for Tarleton or the others within the group.

UCD dominated MSU in the stats. If they can clean up the devastating mistakes by the frosh QB, they could be dangerous, certainly dangerous enough to beat SacSt.

I think SDSU was overrated early by their win at Bozeman and just got worse (as most teams do) with injuries. Rogers leaving with players and coaches and the QB hitting the portal was pretty hard to cover. Historical success seems to be buoying them.
 
Funny that Sacred Heart isn’t receiving votes. If they can pull off an upset against Villanova this weekend they could make the playoffs

Would love to see that happen. A win would take them to 9-3, which would look really good. But there's a catch: You might have to call that 8-3 because one win was against a D-III opponent. Another was over a team that's just starting a transition into FCS, so I have no notion how the committee might treat that.
 
with the BSC admitting the pass was out of bounds and suspending officials will weigh heavy on the selection committee rejecting suck state.

Should they get in over a 5 loss valley team in that case?

Good points. Had not noted the large number of programs involved. I'm still skeptical of Tarleton being a top-10 team ... however, maybe there's a case. Yes, the Texans have played what seems like a relatively weak schedule. But they have done what a good team does when it plays a weak opponent: They have dominated. The Texans have averaged 47 PPG against FCS teams, while giving up just 15 PPG ... and that includes their one lose at Abilene Christian (28-31).
